Bard Arcane spell Failure. What the hell?!
OK so I've been playing neverwinter nights for years. I had a copy of the physical game when it came out. I got diamond edition on GOG and I now have purchased this so I'm wondering what the deal is because I thought that NWN was 3.5 in ruleset. I've also played D&D for about 16 years so I know what I'm talking about and I know what spell failure is and how it works and what it does and why. Now, I normally play melee characters I have never really played a caster in NWN that wasn't a Divine caster so spell failure wasn't an issue. But I thought for fun I'd play a bard. And here I am thinking Oh bards don't get arcane spell failure if they are wearing light armor. AT LEAST THAT'S HOW IT'S SUPPOSE TO BE! I get 5 lvls in I'm wearing studded leather and no I don't have a shield I know that still counts. and my spells are failing from wearing armor. If this is because NWN uses the 3.0 ruleset I can live with that but if that was just left out of the game because the devs didn't know it was there I'd like to know if there is a mod out there to fix this because I should be able to walk around wearing a mythril chain shirt and force people to dance with pure Joy.

Yes NVN uses 3.0 ruleset. Only NVN2 uses the 3.5 ruleset
3.0 is way harder than 3.5 and is way less forgiving..
I know there have been mods that put it into 3.5 yet with bigger problems in a lot of other areas (only recommended if multiplayer)

Another reason why Bard's are so much better in NWN 2.

As Flying Fox says, NWN 1 is 3e, not 3.5 - and unfortunately for Bards - they get Arcane Spell Failure in armour.
