So, is there anything on your website I'm missing, or in-game, regarding learning some of the things to do on the server? Because from my experience, there is one zone (And very close ones) where people do hang out. Other than that it feels like there's so much there yet so little to do. I've seen sooo many areas, running around, with really nothing and no one in them.
Some villages have no interior buildings so it's rather pointless to visit them, which is a shame. I found one with some troops I think look cool and would totally be up for being part of that area. There was even one zone with a warning sign that you should not enter - so of course I went in and tried to find what was so bad about it. It's all misty and... that's it. Even tried breaking into what looked like a manor but, well, you can't enter it even after the door goes down.
Directions? Aside from maybe the very start of the game and the sign posts, there's nothing to help out there. With such a huge field to play in, you'd think you would have at least some NPC to ask for simple directions? '.' And those peasants keeps telling me to go ask a Knight since they are busy but even they shoo the player away. Now okay, you could ask a player, it's a RP server, fine - but what if you're in one of the many zones where they are never around? What then? It really limits you to where you can be.
And it would be SO nice to find a place where you can sell items for more than just 1 coin each. At the moment I can sell some amazing stuff (Armour, jewels, those things) for the same price as a single. Rose. Petal. x_x Again, if there is such a place: directions to them would be great. Do we have to rely on players in order to sell anything? Because that wouldn't really work as that means, there are things that will never be sold (while in D&D settings, you would find vendors for everything).
I also considered trying to get my armoring going, since grinding mobs can only be fun for so long without any quest system at all. It's one of the starting things I picked once I enter the game and get the post-character creation options to really flesh out my character. But there's nothing that gives you information, at all, how to craft or what you can make. And even if it's like in the base game, some hints on where to get materials would be nice. I've gone into caves and mines - no materials to be found.
TL;DR: With a world this big, you may need to add in WAY more information in-game to give people a chance to do anything. And even if you manage to ask players, it's going to be troubling if you stumble upon the type that won't give any information.
Thank you for all this feedback! Well, suffice to say that there are so many hidden gems on the server, it is a sandbox style play where we don't insist upon any one course or another. Speaking explicitly, new players ought to check out the Duskwood Bend to the west of Brost to get started, and they can sell the items they retrieve at a merchant "Duval Marinsbane" in the Ranger's Rest. Sadly, some players were gaming our merchants and to put a stop to it, most merchants don't buy things anymore (referring to the 1gp sell limit.) Be advised though that since Brost is so rural, the merchants really don't have hundreds or thousands of GP to pay out for wares, so the most you can expect to earn from Duval in a single shot is 100gp.
Regarding the armoring and some of your other points about the intrigue, it's really essential to our paradigm that you interact with other PCs. There are low class PCs who have mining and wood gathering proficiencies, and you'll need a miner to supply you with the ores to start your craft. (Or, if you're savy, you'll pick up some ores at Duval's shop- people sell them when they can't use'em, and its to your benefit!)
The recipes for crafting results are hidden, but there are many PC smiths who can help you learn what you want to make. There are almost a thousand derivations of possible recipes and its possible to brute force them to discover all the combinations... but not necessary if you simply ask the right PC.
There are actually tons of things going on, but to the single player who does not integrate with others, it won't seem that way.
But in spite of my answers, we agree with many of these points! We're always adding additional NPCs and conversations to help point new players toward the intrigue, and your feedback helps us do that, immensely. Keep it coming and we'll keep doing our best to make KoN an exceptional place to roleplay!
Of course, since this is a RP server, communication with other players would be important which I totally agree with - just problematic as said in certain situations (such as looting some armour that no one use but would still make sense that they give some rewards. Or off to raid some crypt and find that the effort wasn't rewarding enough.)
Still new here but I can definitely say that so far the RP has been fun and I hope to see some more faces!
IF you are new to DnD and or curious about it and bought this game to explore rp'ing. Don't join this server DON"T lol dude is stupid
DON"T JOIN THIS SERVER For info on a good server if you are new to RP'ing and DnD add me
I DO NOT recomend this. Which is a HUGE shame but the DMs are horrible control freaks and, in my case? Where did the line go for me?
If they feel like killing a player off, they will.
Yeah, that's right. I just thought I'd go and hunt some undead and what do I find? A player corpse. Obviously, since I deeply care for other players, I wanted to bring it to a safe spot, maybe someone could do something about it.
I had no idea where to do this and my character - who is partly insane and hihgly paranoid with trust issues - went to ask. Already I seemed to get someone annoyed but that's how my character is, he doesn't much like those who are above 'common folk'.
Then afterwards, I went to the temple I was told about and went to see where I could put this player's body. The NPC was then controlled by a DM (Djinn, I know it was you) and said he wanted to see my character's face. He has never shown his face and he doesn't for good reasons. Then this happened.
The "NPC" said he wasn't welcome there. My character said that was fine, he just wanted to know where to put the body and then he would leave.
Then he said he would leave.
And the NPC cast a paralyze spell on him and decided to kill him! (Though with great difficulty - clearly that must've been a DM paralyze spell because he couldn't even hit a frozen man for all he was worth. Gave me a chuckle.)
And then, EVEN THOUGH THE RULES SAYS, if you are less than level 10 - you do not get permanent deaths. Djinn said that wasn't the case if NPCs kills you but... I've died a few times and got back to life over and over. Because I felt I could be more risky before I reached 10. But even then: he says "Naw, you died by a NPC, we're done here."
So, for any of you who want a fun time: This is not it. I met a few people who were great fun, I even went to do some manor & dungeon hunting and had a blast. But with DMs like this? You're better off elsewhere. They are absolute control freaks.
So for, if I remember the names - Ronan, Fiona and Sareh, thank you very much for the fun run yesterday! Maybe someday we'll bump into one another again - at a better server.
Edit: Also, going to try get in contact with TokenBlack to find the server he found. Even if it's good or not... can't be worse than this!
Just a regular little Hold Person spell, for the guy who wouldn't listen to orders given by a powerful crusader cleric and Knight of Tethyr. Not a smart move in any credible Forgotten Realms setting. I think this whole thing was a joke to you, but we wish you the best in finding a server that more closely matches your personal play style.
Oh I do take it seriously. I've RP'd for a very long time - but to you it doesn't seem like people can have different personalities. I RP as a partly insane person after a lot of trauma that happened to him. But again, from the conversation we had - it's clear you want things to be exactly your way.
Tell you what, maybe you should focus on the first huge post I made - give WAY MORE information to people what they can and cannot do. You -NEED- to give newcomers a chance to understand everything, otherwise it's going to be a fairly dead and inactive server (which this is). Just reading the other posts here, that seems to be the biggest problem with you. We don't get to know anything until it's too late.
Again, to everyone - I cannot recomend this. Find somewhere else.
Please, be honest with others and yourself. Do -NOT- lie as that will just make things seem worse on this thread where there are already complaints. <3 It's not too late to change it around!
That being said, once you stop responding to my messages, I'll stop talking here.
You're that kind of powerhungry DM that prefers humiliating players and killing them off instead of helping to adjust them to your campaign and progress from there on.
