Dude, you know very well I didn't even say a single word, we were alone and using voip. Let alone show disprespect or anything.
Out of the blue I get teleported for no reason. Then my friend asks why he is dead, you tell him his names suck and that you're not amused, he asks "how can I change it" you don't reply, kill him a couple of more times and then kick us both.
Clearly you haven't learned anything during those 20 years.
Not roleplaying will just never work on our server. You managed to ignore the first message every new player receives which is that above all, you must act in character at all times. I really wonder why this is so difficult for you to understand. You're some other server operator's problem, now.
Roleplaying ain't standing in a corner doing nothing while typing an extra long sentence stating the obvious hoping LRES will give out some rp xp when nobody is around.
The Steam forum is not for arguing between server owners and players. This is also not a place for insulting and harassment towards other users.
If any similar talk continues, I'll have to close this thread.
Thanks for your understanding.
Thanks Julius!
We are a serious roleplay server with enforced roleplay, consequences, and what we like to call persistent character death. We hold metagaming and most OOC in disdain. The way that anyone can be extremely successful here is simply to keep everything in-character; then you can't go wrong! (even if you are wrong!)
Our server rules can be found on our TethyrKnights.com site. I'll post them in this reply, too. Players on our server are actually rather free to pursue goals like lordship or owning a castle, so the possibilities afforded by our somewhat strict environment are actually quite broad.
Consistently delivering a credible Dungeons & Dragons experience is our goal, so that's the spirit of our rules:
http://tethyrknights.com/knights-of-noromath-server-rules/
The Knights of Noromath value a game that has both high integrity and high stakes. While not all players will participate in courtly intrigues, it can be expected that players will come into conflict with each other, and this is encouraged to a point.
There are no roll-backs on the Knights of Noromath server. If something has happened, the ship has sailed, as the saying goes.
Table of Contents:
1. Player Versus Player Encounters
2. Profanity
3. Sexual/Social Roleplay
4. Permadeath
5. Attacking Non-Hostile NPCs
6. Character Modifications
7. Item Transfer/Muling
8. Metagaming
9. Player Government
10. Exploitation
1. Player Versus Player Encounters
A PVP involves two or more players doing battle with each other for any duration, whether the encounter is fatal or not.
The following behaviors in a PVP Encounter are considered to be fair game:
Looting dropped gold is allowed
Disarming an opponent of weaponry is allowed
Attacking another player without Out-Of-Character Consent is allowed
Moving a player's body to a hidden location is allowed
The following behaviors in a PVP Encounter are considered to be in poor taste:
Attacking an AFK character
Attacking others in front of NPCs
Ping-pong or repeated killings of the same player
Any form of exploit in PVP (transitions, etc)
Stacking Traps
Players do not have the ability to "closure" or "permakill" or "end" other player stories. You may defeat each other variously, you may sputter curses upon the grave of your foe. You can ride roads of the county singing about defeating them. But you may not send them OOC tells insisting that their character is not playable. This judgment is reserved for DMs only.
Furthermore, insisting upon roleplaying with a player corpse that doesn't exist in-game is to be considered metagaming. Example: You've beaten a PC vampire, and they vanished. You want to RP burning their body. Don't. There isn't a body.
Furthermore, you may not behead, burn, or otherwise maim other player characters without a DM present.
2. Profanity
Profanity is not allowed on the Lands of Intrigue, and the use of any real-world slurs is forbidden as should be common sense. Be creative with your profane language and you will please the dark gods. Use words that are considered hate speech and we'll provide you with a permanent CD-Key ban. Also, avoid sexual themes with your language. It shows a lack of creativity to use modern sexual innuendo or expressions. If you want examples of Ed Greenwood's writing so you can see how easy it is to have even greater immersion, we highly recommend his books.
3. Sexual/Social Roleplay
Romantic role play on the Lands of Intrigue must be kept PG-13. This is not a "social" server where sexual acts are to be portrayed at any time. Although, romance is a key element in many intrigues and the relationships that form between characters often have a great impact on their stories. Those determined to be "cybering" or conducting social or erotic roleplay will be provided with a permanent CD-Key ban. It is against our server culture which fosters a family environment so if you insist on overly sexual themes, this server is not for you.
4. Permanent Death
Permanent Death happens when a player has died and may no longer resurrect themselves via their own willpower (ie. the PC is above level 10). However, their corpse item still exists in-game and may be raised by someone else. It may be buried in a celebrated location or a secret one. Through player efforts, it is always possible to recover the remains of dead players and bring them back - if the magic to do so is powerful enough. A villain may be interred in the vault of a well-defended keep, meaning that manpower may be called for in addition to the favor of the gods.
5. Attacking Non-Hostile NPCs
Attacking Non-Hostile NPCs falls into two categories, doing so with a DM present, or not. While not prohibited, attacking and killing NPCs without DM supervision is done in poor taste. However, that is not to say that current intrigues do not justify the action, so it is preferred that a player with such designs contact a DM in order to portray the appropriate reaction on the part of the attacked NPCs.
6. Character Modifications
Re-leveling: Generally speaking, the DMs of the Knights of Noromath server will allow you to re-take your last level without any hassle. We will simply remove 1000 XP and give you 1000 XP back.
Alignment Changes: The DMs of Knights of Noromath server will allow you to make alignment changes as dictated by your desires for your character without any hassle. However, we reserve the right to adjust your alignment according to the actions of your character.
Head/Appearance Changes: These modifications are accessible in the Character Customization Room and require no permission to use.
Item Modification: We use MILs tailoring that has been modified to cost nothing to player characters, which is also accessible in the Character Customization Room.
7. Item Transfer/Muling
"Muling" items from one character to another on the Knights of Noromath is prohibited.
8. Metagaming
Metagaming is one of those age-old problems that is difficult to prove when it has transpired, so let's all be honest with each other and keep a firm separation between what is known in-character and out-of-character. If it seems like your character is always in the right place at the right time, we'll probably find a way to make your abuse of knowledge come around to haunt you. If you play more than one character, you may not share information between them, call them acquaintances, or any such thing. Playing two characters from the same family or who have some relation between each other should be avoided. Consider each of your characters a separate experiment and every new one an opportunity to improve your concept.
9. Exploitation
Any activity that seriously compromises the game engine will result in a permanent CD-Key ban.
Also maybe we should have a forum subsection for PW's?
Nope! Anybody can be a lord or affluent knight just using the starting options. There's no need to give us money unless you really love us. You won't find finer RP than the Knights of Noromath!
DarkBeforeTheDawn - 01/22/2018
What sets KoN apart from other servers is that this server is a family. We look out for one another, even when we start to get on each others’ nerves. There isn’t a moment where I haven’t seen another player step up and help others when they need it, whether it is in game or in real life. Sure, real life can drag us away at any given moment, whether it is work or family emergencies or just having a bleh kind of day, but even those things don’t stop the people here from reaching out and hoisting each other higher and making everyone feel welcomed in our “home away from home.”
Malcorath - 01/28/2018
great server great RP possibilities. they really strive to make is as PnP as possible. best rp experience i have had online since old time pre trammeln UO.
Darktide - 02/25/2018
Honestly you just can't find role-play anywhere else like you can here on Knights of Noromath. Having played exclusively on another server for ten years and coming here has been a complete eye opener. From the first time I logged in with the beautiful landscapes to having stable Horses and a setting ripe with intrigue, it is hands down my favorite place to be. As someone said this server is family and the people you play with are kind and considerate.
Cebrimal - 03/02/2018
Neverwinter Nights has a strong following 16 years after launch because it embodies a good balance of community, individual creativity, engaging roll play and as close to a pen and paper experience ever presented in a digital offering. Knights of Noromath expands on these assets and delivers on everything this game has to offer.
Chaos is My Weapon - 03/08/2018
When I had to pay finances on my full-plate armour to a dwarf priest, I knew this server was for me.
The Purple Cloak - 03/14/2018
I love how on KoN for major events there is just enough intrigue to have the instinct to be active for when it happens as opposed to a build up for seven months and then nothing happening at all, or waiting so you long you move on!
SBG76 - 03/14/2018
My priestess attended one of the many council meetings of Barons, Ladies and Lords. If she was to review it like a video game she would say; Runa : "Halflings spit on, Knights arses torn , and Druids dragged along for the ride.. Best council meeting ever .. would attend again 10/10."
Kitty! - Last Sunday at 7:26 PM
I love the DM events, and IG intrigue. The community is epic as well. It's always fun to see the stories being told by the characters.

I spent a few years playing on another server which I greatly enjoyed. Made a character who became well known and had some good involvement. After taking a hiatus and coming back I found it was extremely difficult, especially at higher levels, to get involved in any plots – especially since those I use to RP with (players and DMs) didn’t seem to be around anymore. I also realized any grand designs I may have attempted with my character were meant to fail as the server was much the same as it had been when I started playing years ago and changes had been temporary and rarely something that effected more than a few people, then it was right back to the way things were. As I played less and less an old friend mentioned trying a new server to me, Knights of Noromath.
The server was newer and the player base smaller than what I was use to and I’ll admit I didn’t exactly throw myself into playing thinking instead my days of Persistent World playing were behind me. But I noticed some differences quickly, and the differences I noticed kept me coming back. The DM’s were extremely helpful and attentive. I was even greeted and given a long lesson (I can be a slow leaner) and the things which would be helpful to know about role playing and character development on the server.
Once in game I quickly witnessed my first event – a official (a PC) who’d abused his position and was being executed. I should point out being in events was easier here then in the previous servers I had been part of. The DM’s attentiveness went beyond greetings and helpful conversations, they in fact put out IG and OOC warnings when the regular events were coming up and where characters who wanted to be involved should find themselves. This was really great to see for me because I tend to be more RP heavy opposed to being dungeon heavy and events are the best way for my character to be go out and do something active. Having said that I should say that there are several dungeons and each meant for different levels so everyone who enjoys dungeon-ing has a place to go.
This server also allowed characters a much stronger hand in manipulating the world around them. As opposed to the previous server I played where any major position was held by an NPC so any story could be kept on track, on KoN characters frequently hold major positions. I have seen characters holding positions which allowed them to enforce the law on common folk, to enforce law upon nobility, and even enforce law up
and even enforce law upon the council of NPCs and PCs which run the land the server focuses on. It is not uncommon for characters to rent or own homes, land, or become servants in any fashion to Keeps, Castles, Temples and Churches. Or even to rise to position so that they are the de facto authority in them.
I’ll wrap this up with an experience. My character accepted a position to a Keep which was desperately in need of men, fortifications, and everything else. As his back round has him as formerly serving Cormryr he wrote to an old friend and asked for retired Purple Dragons looking for work to be pointed his way. I should say I OOCly I had no expectation of anything happening, perhaps a few new NPCs coming to the Keep. What did happen? The DMs decided that men responded. They redesigned the area to give it the appearance that a new and professional outfit of men had come and set to their work – fortifying the Keep, manning the walls, adding barricades, etc., etc. But it didn’t end there. When my character interacted with the Purple Dragons they acted exactly as I expected! They were professional soldiers who made no excuses and cared only for their duty. I was blown away and still am. This could simply never have happened in the other server, and if some smaller version of it did happen it would have been brief and controlled. This event has affected the entire server, including NPCs and PCs. In fact it has created several other issues, or ripples if you prefer, which has my character wondering how it will end. And me too, because in this server I have been shown that anything, supported by the right role play, is possible and that nothing is set in stone nor are there any limits. I would encourage anybody who has thought about it to give KoN a try. On top of everything else any character and player I have interacted with has been great and really contributed towards my experiences on the server.
The best part of the server honestly has to be how organic every interaction is. Nothing is set in stone, nothing is guaranteed. It is literally all the best aspects of a table top game, coded to provide a visual representation. Every player no matter the type of character or build has the opportunity to make a large impact in our small little corner of tethyr
When asked what sets KON apart from the rest:
Sljppers - 01/22/2018
DM activity and playerbase communication
CatInTheWitchesHat - 01/22/2018
The interconnectedness of player decisions and setting changes
Sljppers - 01/22/2018
I haven't yet personally experienced it, but it seems like anyone can permanently impact the server.
And that's a cool thing to actually have, rather than claim to have and not deliver upon.
DnDragons - 01/22/2018
What I enjoy about the server is the care for lore and character cooperation. Single people can have impacts, an cooperation is clearly pushed to reach even larger goals. Not only that, but there is a care for WHAT a class is and what it means to be a cleric or a druid to aid in rp compared to simply multi classing and building whatever gives you the best stats only. The world cares about your position in life such as poor to nobility and the world has opportunity for all types.
TreeWitchFear - 01/22/2018
This is a living, breathing campaign where even the smallest interactions can have tangible effects. Seemingly random or inconsequential events suddenly re-emerge as something far larger than you ever anticipated. Everything about the setting: The lore, the monsters, the npcs, even the zones themselves are all well thought out, imaginative, and evoke a real sense of cohesiveness with the setting. A lot of love went into making this campaign where everyone can take part in the narrative, and it shows with every interaction, with every battle, every victory, and every defeat.
The Torm Storm - 01/22/2018
The immersion is real for sure, we all feel significant no matter how large or small our role is
Dissonance - 01/22/2018
When you log on, chances are someone will talk to you within five minutes. Every other server people just run by you like you're invisible.
The Torm Storm - 01/22/2018
It feels more like an active campaign as opposed to and independently functional PW, which end up feeling like MMOs. I'm not here to play an MMO, I come here for DnD.
The Torm Storm - 01/22/2018
Thanks to EE the wonderful development and scenery can be properly enjoyed and fully realized in this authentic FR environment. The lack of lag allows immersion to be enjoyed.
The Torm Storm - 01/22/2018
We have the freedom to have our character's decisions be 100% story related and acknowledged instead of ignored.
Dissonance - 01/22/2018
That political scene -
I thought it was really cool hearing about some of the exploits and scars that previous players have made on the server. Like the Mad Mage.
Makes it feel like you too can leave a lasting impact.
DnDragons - 01/22/2018
ALso anticipation. Knowing that anytime something can happen rather than just like once a week etc
The Torm Storm - 01/22/2018
Indeed, it's like nothing is forgotten
TreeWitchFear - 01/22/2018
Also the people. Some of the finest role players I've had the honor of playing with. A beautiful game still sucks if the community is toxic. This community is one of the finest I've ever seen, and that makes it all even better.
The Torm Storm - 01/22/2018
I would also like to add how the plethora of custom classes and content allows for an exponential amount of side but just as significant plots to develop, this concept alone sets KoN apart as well. Does it happen on other servers? Yes but it is not as intriguing to consider.
