Try this site and see what result it gives you.
http://ping-test.org/
Type in your static IP.
If he wasn't always playing Minecraft or sleeping I could try to get him to do that. He hasn't even tried to join my own server yet. Hopefully today we'll see if that works, I see my server in the internet browser so I'd assume it'd work.
The fact that it IS listed in the browser suggests the master server sees the game just fine - and can query it.
Right, I've done ping tests many times and they never function, even though I have multiple working servers.
This only the first step in troubleshooting his issue. His game is listed since it on the same PC.
Plus OP cant even connect to his own server.
The site doesn't even get any response at all from my IP, 100% packet loss. Tried it with my open port too to see if that's an issue, same outcome.
Indeed. I don't see what pinging the server will achieve... you will be in the same boat no matter what the result.
Yes, could do with some clarification from the OP there - is it listed on the internet server browser, or just the LAN one? If the former, then it's not a port or firewall issue. If the latter, then it could still well be.
Again, this is pointless. It will prove nothing.
Just says I have a bunch of random firewalled ports, none of which are the port I host servers on so clearly it's not correct.
Nope it's on the internet browser, with all the other dozens of servers. If it was on the LAN browser that'd be much easier.
Yup, the port provided at the top of the page that says "Your Public IP Address" also the same one Google gives me.
