How to change server default port?
As the title says, I want to host a server for some friends but I need a new port. I have a port already opened, but I can't put in a new one. Basically whenever I try to put in a new port it just deletes it moments later, I really don't know what's going on and it's pointless to even try. It's difficult to even get into it's settings.

It's a Google OnHub if you're interested, it's completely brainless. Not my idea to get it.

Luckily most games I come across you can change the port, but it seems I can't change the port for this game from what I can see.

If not I'll just have my friend host it.

Edit your nwnplayer.ini file, and there you can change the game port under [Server Options] -

[Server Options]
Game Port=5121

If you can connect to him, but he cant connect to you, sounds like you have your router set to blackhole mode. Can he ping your router and get a response?

Try this site and see what result it gives you.

Type in your static IP.

If he wasn't always playing Minecraft or sleeping I could try to get him to do that. He hasn't even tried to join my own server yet. Hopefully today we'll see if that works, I see my server in the internet browser so I'd assume it'd work.

Ping testing isn't always conclusive. Your router may be set to deny ICMP packets. Alternatively, it may ping but still not be able to successfully query the server or connect to it.

The fact that it IS listed in the browser suggests the master server sees the game just fine - and can query it.

Right, I've done ping tests many times and they never function, even though I have multiple working servers.
On the above site, it will say what his ports are set to, if they are firewalled etc...

This only the first step in troubleshooting his issue. His game is listed since it on the same PC.
Alternatively, your friend can run trace route to see where it is being lost.

Plus OP cant even connect to his own server.

The site doesn't even get any response at all from my IP, 100% packet loss. Tried it with my open port too to see if that's an issue, same outcome.
Look at the fourth symbol - the port scan - whats it say?

Indeed. I don't see what pinging the server will achieve... you will be in the same boat no matter what the result.

Yes, could do with some clarification from the OP there - is it listed on the internet server browser, or just the LAN one? If the former, then it's not a port or firewall issue. If the latter, then it could still well be.

Again, this is pointless. It will prove nothing.

Just says I have a bunch of random firewalled ports, none of which are the port I host servers on so clearly it's not correct.

Nope it's on the internet browser, with all the other dozens of servers. If it was on the LAN browser that'd be much easier.

You are providing it with the correct WAN address, yes - and not your LAN one?
If his friend runs it and can get to the IP but its lost there, then we will definately know its the hosts setup and not an ISP issue in between. First find out where packet loss is occurring.

If this is the case, then your server is visible by the outside world and will not be a port forwarding or firewall issue.

Yup, the port provided at the top of the page that says "Your Public IP Address" also the same one Google gives me.
