I've tried everything to take down the second guardian that is in front of the way to the knower of places and he just doesn't take damage not in the slightest. This is all melee Fighting I'm not a wizard or sorcerrour so I haven't tried magic on him but he just wont die this is like in a 15 minute battle until I give up and let my character die. Why doesn't he take damage is the game buggy could my character have flaws in the way I've given him Points what I just cant figure it out Please Help - This is for HOTU DLC

If I remember correctly it has massive damage reduction (20 I think). You will need to have special damage on your weapons anyway, but particularly if you are going melee heavy you will need to max that out. In terms of special damage: Divine is nearly always the good one to go for, a good second is acid sometimes cold (but some enemies have massive resistance to cold & fire Damage in HOTU). Negative Energy damage is generally not a good one here either.

If you are going melee you need to have an array of weapons at your disposal with special damages available to best max damage to each type of enemy.

Aribeth is an excellent Hench for enemies in HOTU particularly if you go for Palladin. She will make short work of such enemies if you skill her right.

Not particularly relevant to your build, but the cleric spell Implosion can pretty much insta-kill this enemy. I remember once that fight lasting less than 60 seconds playing as a Cleric.

Can't remember the details but I guess it's a combination of a minimum enhancement and damage mitigation. By that point of the game, if you're a fighting class, you should have a weapon that works out, like at least +6 enhancement (ideally +10), with an extra 2d6 elemental damage. Between that and a big STR stat (belts of giant strength, gauntlets of ogre, potion of bull strength), you should go well over the mitigation every time. Power attack will help too if you can hit.

In the tavern in Cania, there's the forge where you can upgrade your weapons, the same as in the Underdark, in case you haven't maxed it out just yet.

Thank you very much I think I have a weapon with Divine its called the Astral Blade or something I shall try that. I sure hope something helps because his health after beating on him for 10 min does not even go down to slightly injured So I hope Divine will help Thanks

in NWN OC the chapter 3 and 4 balors had damage reduction of +3/20 which means you needed a +3 weapon to hit them otherwise you'd do 20 less damage.

in NWN HotU its higher level and I would expect their damage reduction to be higher.

normally I've enchanted my weapons at the smithy to +10 by then though, if not yeah the first guardian dropped an astral blade +8 which could work.

Last Time I ran thru here I was a fighter/Bard/RDD and just dev crit everything to death.

Well my Character is wearing an 8 plus Giant Belt and ogre Gloves for two points bringing my strength to 27 points I used bulls Strength I used excellent blades With 8 points and all while Using Extra Power Hits I am using Boots of Haste which makes my character hit plenty fast and also plenty of defensive rings and necklaces and armor with a rating of 38. Who's to say I wasn't ready. All that and the most I can drop him for is down to Barely Injured and that only lasts for 2 seconds and hes back to uninjured again I swear there has to be something wrong somewhere. If anybody has any answers please I am all ears Thank You

I am going to go and get my blades put up to Level ten I sure hope it works Thanks for the advice

That looks like a decent setup. AC looks a bit low for that endgame section as fighter (you could easily hit around 45 assuming you use a shield) but ah, enough potions of heal and you're golden. If you can use scrolls, see if you have haste/mass haste to buff up your henchmen. If Improved Power Attack (-10 to hit, +10 damage) doesn't hit often enough, try the regular Power Attack (-5 to hit, +5 damage).

And of course, if absolutely nothing works, there's always the console to just instakill it, but it doesn't feel the same.

Bring up information on the enemy when in range. If necessary just pause the game whilst you look at what the game tells you about what aspects it has. If it has any extra defences against special types of damage it will say, in addition to any vulnerabilities it may have. It's unlikely it will have any noted vulnerabilities, but my guess (and from what I remember since Clerics/Paladins do well against it) is that Divine damage will be the most effective.

well yeah, see the boots of haste .... see you can enchant your melee weapons to perma haste you so I normally go with something else either boots of striding +10, boots of hardiness +whatever, or if I have use any item boots of the sun soul +5 wouldn't help us here too much.

according to the internet
https://alt.games.neverwinter-nights.narkive.com/prkpdMNA/hotu-guardian-of-the-path-problem

the guardian of the path has soak of +7,
best bulliet target Jun 11, 2023 @ 10:25am
the slaad just has high regen and high soak. how many attacks per round for melee i hope your at 5, plus you got a hasted +10 of some element weapon. find out his ac and then make sure your minium attack roll is within +1-7 of it. seen to many complain he's hard but that their like 4th and 5th attack couldn't by pass his AC and with that they just gimped them selves form dmg.
