Assignment to kill a Wolf with a melee weapon

Have killed 3 with melee so far but quest is not updating. Does it mean the Wolf cannot take damage from any other source than melee? If so then it becomes near impossible.

Could do. There is a 'finish off assignment which only requires the kill. There may be a difference.
You might need to pack a few meds :(

I just "forked" a lynx and got the credit! Thanks for the tip! I too had taken down 3 wolves with a hammer with not credit.

Survivor Perk (left Survival line) makes melee kills much easier, long as you tap the target once before dying again you'll revive for free every time.

You do have to fight it with only melee for that particular one. I fought one taking out its missles with a gun the first time, didn't work. however, I then emp stun locked a second one nearby and it counted the mission. Apparenlty Lynx ai have a hard time with you sprinting around melee style, so kill them off first if it's able to spawn any, go for the leg parts and the underbelly, that's how I killed mine, thankfully was a soldier class, not too difficult. Good luck with the Melee only Assault Base Missions, I did tier one for that and it worked fairly well

It works, but make sure you use regular melee weapon and not the experimentals. Kill 2-3 wolves with the baseball bat and it should work. Keep in mind that Wolf miniguns will shredd you few times.

I had done it after taking out it's weapons and it having taken damage from other bots. Used Mjolnir for it.

yeah at first i'm using the Exp sledgehammer and pitchfork to complete the assignment but found out i can't complete it using them both for some reason. After i used the 5c baseball bat i finally completed it. Best tactic for killing the Wolf using melee weapons is to lure it close to a building then take out both of its launchers and enjoy the rest.

It really is just killing a lynx, DerZernichter was correct. Once I killed a Lynx the mission completed.
