What guns and schematics are recommended when starting to "farm" rivals
Made it to level 27 Ive got a 5 crown ak and m-49, other long guns are 4 crown, and I've got the schematics for 7.62 ammo, and all the first aid schematics.
Still, as a single player i have a hard time killing a tank and harvester by myself, and my map is filled with rivals (groups of 4 plus whatever is with them), is it impossible to do as a single player? Should I finally try multiplayer?

I am not sure I understand the question but I will just give some tips how to have a better chance of farming better weapons from bots and how to get six-star ammo schematics.

For weapons:
Since you have level 4 rivals, choose the easiest to destroy like proto versions and the easiest size to destroy as in hunters. That should give you the best chance of farming good weapons until you get the 6-star version.

For more powerful ammo schematics
I think the easiest way to get them is to purposely do the Good News mission and set up your home base. There you can activate the defend the base mission (I suggest to use easy mode as you can easily defeat the bots even if you have not set up enough walls to protect your truck at the home base).

Every time you defeat a complete set of bot attacks you will be rewarded (random) with six star ammo or medkit schematics and crafting materials. You can repeat the process after defeating the attacks by re-leveling up the Forest Region to activate another set of attacks and give you another set of rewards. To re-level up you need to destroy enough non-leveled bots.

Once you have schematics for shock and explosive ammo and craft them, your weapon (whatever quality) that can use them will become very powerful. The secret for more damage is in the ammo and not in the gun. But of course, supplementing the 6-star ammo with 6-star weapons are still better.

use fuel tanks mines and grenades also shoot from cover behind a building, also most tanks can be cheesed by shooting them over the crest of a hill so that their bullets cant reach you

Look for vulnerabilities on these rivals - fuel tanks. They are best attacked from the rear. Do not stand and fight or you will be punished. Use buildings or bunkers for shelter and lure them in for an attack.

IMO, the most important schematics are both 50 caliber ammunition, explosive rounds, advanced medkit, and both 7.62. 50 cal and explosive rounds are great for taking out big enemies from a distance. You could replace 7.62 for whatever else you prefer but honestly, 7.62 FMJ drops like crazy so I stuck with that and just crafted AP rounds for tougher enemies. I gathered all the base game schematics but those were really the only ones I used as I had plenty of other ammo for my .270 rifle and an overabundance of 9mm for my Klauk through looting. Obviously, playstyle and weapon preference will dictate which are most valuable but I found those were really all I needed. I never even bothered with the defense missions for advanced schematics. It didn't seem worth the effort.

If you have FNIX Rising and Alpine DLC, you can basically get unlimited copper, explosive, tungsten, fabric, and steel. So you should be mostly set for crafting whatever you need. Everything I mentioned, except explosive, respawn at the FNIX Rising home base. Just teleport away and then back and you can just farm to your heart's content.

I can't member the name of the place, but with the Alpine DLC, just north above the cabins with the bicycle challenge, there are 15 explosive tanks. If you set a spawn beacon there, you can just leave and teleport back and they will reappear.

With those two spots you will be good to get all the AP and explosive rounds you need. You should easily be gathering enough of the other materials needed through natural looting.

It's not impossible to defeat tanks solo. My guess is when you get into a battle you're not changing positions quickly to get in on the sides or rear of the tanks/harvesters. You can absolutely search & destroy tanks by yourself with the weapons you have currently. Use the terrain for cover. Change positions fast. Use buildings as well. Choose your direction of attack from a higher elevation if possible. Pop off a few shots to lure a group towards your position at a cluster of buildings and lay some mines or explosive/EMP items that could be shot. Ruin their day. Line up enemies in a direction where they have to shoot at each other to get to you. They will frequently dump rounds into each other and give you a helping hand doing so. Be a total bastard in that regard. It's amusing.

I have not played a minute of multiplayer so far and I have ~152 hours in as of this week. Absolutely enjoying hunting down tanks for destruction runs. Super fun. Groups of level 4 Rivals are a challenge but rewarding if you pull it off. You can do this. Go git 'em!

I recommend the AG4, HP5 alternating between AP and FMJ I generally use one weapon with one ammo type and switch between the two when I'm getting in close. AG4 AP and HP5 FMJ. The MG59 and M49 are better for mid-range. Grenades help, throw 'em. PVG 90 is rad for long distance death-touch. Wear them down as they are running towards you with that .50 cal. Sticky flares are fun for mayhem in the group mix. Up North I got better weapons and add-on items then headed back South for causing robot ruin.

Broskulla is a great location IMO...
