Why do you need to break the femur?
So first of all why the femur why not the elbow or the spine sure it’s a big bone but I’m sure u could put someone in more pain also I fractured my shoulder and I didn’t shout or scream or even cry at all but he is like idk getting his fingers chopped off by his best friend

Also why do u need to break the femur why not shout shout on the voice thingy then run out and when 106 sees no one is in the cell it is too late as he will be locked, I also think the other scp should have the chance to be recontained idk how I need to check the wiki but ya know

Anyway what do you guys think?

I think this : you recontain 106 only if you break the femur P.S What people mean for femur??? (Im italian i don't speak english very well)

Perhaps it has to be genuine screams of pain and agony to lure 106?

I'm not an expert on the lore or anything, I'm not sure if the actual SCP page for 106 says why it has to be the femur or not, I'd just guess that 106 may be able to tell the difference between fake screams and real ones, as well as know where people are (He can follow you in CB without line of sight, and pop up behind you and what-not, so that suggests he can detect you)

Femur is a bone in the human body, I believe it's in the leg.

well, the thing is you don't contain him with the femur breaker. He just spends the next few months torturing whoever you put in and you can recontain him in that time. If you trick him then he'll just escape before you begin the long process of putting him in a proper containment cell. Also shattering a bone will cause your 'volunteer' to begin screaming which is all you need to alert 106 - more is cruel and less may not work

It's the longest bone in the body, meaning it reaaaally hurts to get broken.

it's the thick bone located in your thigh (upper leg), i know some people who can attest how painful it is, you wouldn't be quiet if that broke.

This is basically what it says in the wiki. Can read more about it here if you want.

http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-106

In the event of a breach event by SCP-106, a human within the 10-25 years of age bracket will be prepped for recall, with the compromised containment cell being replaced and restored for use. When the cell is ready, the lure subject will be injured, preferably via the breakage of a long bone, such as the femur, or the severing of a major tendon, such as the Achilles Tendon. Lure subject will then be placed in the prepped cell, and the sound emitted by said subject will be transmitted over the site public address system.

SCP-106 will typically begin to gravitate toward the lure subject within ten to fifteen minutes after hearing the subject. Should SCP-106 not respond to the initial broadcast, additional physical trauma is to be administered to the lure subject at twenty-minute intervals until SCP-106 responds. Multiple lure subjects may be used in the case of major breach events.

The femur is the longest bone in the human body. It's /incredibly/ painful to have fractured, let alone literally snapped in half by the femur breaker. According to the wiki, SCP-106 is lured to the sounds of genuine pain.

Then why not just get a recording of that sound and play it any time he breaches rather than waste a d class every time

As soon as 106 shows up he'd realize that he was tricked, and would just go back to breaking containment. The D-Class bait keeps him occupied, as he likes to "play" with his prey.

It is implied that this method has been tried and found to not work or not work more than once. With such a dangerous entity, losing the only means of succesfully luring SCP-106 would result in a higher rate of casualties than the sacrificial lures.
