New here, any place to get started?
I just found this game out of sheer luck, and I am currently hoping that I can find a "beginner server", basically just a server full of noobs like me, who want to discover the game without being destroyed by veterans. Problem is, basically all servers dont bother putting their rules into the info tab, and I really couldnt care less about discord.

Anyone have a beginner friendly server recommendation?

I’d recommend SCP Grave servers, but then again those are the only ones I play on

Join into any server, people are generally friendly and if you have questions people will usually help you and explain server plugins.

I'd avoid the Official Servers until you get comfortable with the game. Server admins do their best but that has been where I see the most toxicity. Lingie's or Pixel's servers are fairly low-key if you are close to US-CA East or Central. Just ask someone in pre-round lobby or Spectator for a run down on the basics and usually you'll get a decent response, sometimes a full on tutorial.

Otherwise I'd suggest watching a Youtube video or two of someone playing the game to get some context on things.

If you are EU, Freyas Fortress is very good.

I recently whatched a video and I believe I know the basics, (controls, keycards, locations, SCPs), but I am hoping to find a server where people arent all super experienced and god like, where Im gonna get gunned down in 0.2 seconds upon turning a corner.

Most of the (australian) servers I'm familiar with aren't necessarily beginner friendly, but they're super far from the hyper-hardcore playerbase that you want to avoid, especially not to the point where it's oppressive. Mostly the things that are more important to learning the game is finding a well moderated / active community on discord or something of the like.

If you are in the EU, the Spark servers are mostly vanilla, so pretty great as a starting point.

there is no high skill strategy or learnable skill in this game
just join a random server and scream into your mic until you get bored
thats pretty much all you can do here

If you're not comfortable with joining a random server to ask for help, shoot me a message. I own a server and I'm happy to walk you through everything about the game in private and you can have a mess-around to see how things work.
