The noclip mode helped, thank you. I kind of feel bad for using the console, but not bad enough to start from the start :D
The scary part is I played Half Life when it originally came out (last century!!) and had the same problem. I forgot all about it and believe I cheated to get out. Now nearly fifteen years later and playing it again, I finally found the answer!!
same here. I used the God Mode cheat on at least 2 occasions, one of which during the platform-jumping portion in Xen at the very beginning of that chapter when I kept failing the long-jump.
got stuck a bunch of times and then resorted to my usual tactic of mashing the keyboard and somehow unstuck myself...
