Half-Life 1 Won't Display

I recently purchased Half-Life 1 as a part of the bundle; however, every time I attempt to launch the game, there is no display whatsoever. I can hear the sound of my mouse hovering over the options, and I can tell the game window is open because I can't click on anything in the steam window that's still open, nor can I click any of my desktop icons.

I can see the application is open in the task bar as well:

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application, adding exceptions in data execution prevention, I run no antivirus software, I've tried running it in compatibility mode, I've tried running it in windowed mode, I've tried deleting all of the application files and redownloading them (multiple times in different orders).

The newer games in the bundle--mainly Half-Life 2 and all its related games--all work fine. It's Half-Life 1, as well as Team Fortress Classic, that are having this issue.

I can't seem to find any documentation relating to the command, but here are some relatively recent patch notes:

Added "-nofbo" command line option to let you disable using the new method for rendering.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work. All it does is shrink my screen resolution before putting me in the exact same spot I was in before. It looks like this:

I almost wonder if it's a dual-monitor issue. I'll install it in a bit, and see if I end up having the same issue.

I can say for certain that it's not, as I was trying to play it yesterday when I didn't have my second monitor set up. It did the exact same thing.

I feel like it has something to do with compatibility/the fact that the game is so old.

I'm not sure whether or not it's necessary. In a lot of other support threads I was looking at before I made this one, this information was requested by people attempting to troubleshoot. That's why I put it in there.

The game will only display 1/4 of the screen. The only way I can exit it is by alt-tabbing out of it.

If I move the mouse around the other 3/4s of the screen, all options and commands or what-have-you are still there and are selectable, I just can't see them.

i had the same issue and was able to resolve it by right clicking the game in my library -> properties -> set launch options and put in "-h 1920 -w 1080" (without the quotation marks)

i saw a few other threads stating to put different screen resolutions but those didnt work for me
