console commands not working

someone explain to me what i'm doing wrong: i something in the console and nothing happens. like when i type Impulse 101, nthing happens. someone please help.

sry for my english. there is two tricks. 1. go to libary, games, and right click to half-life and click to propeties, game launch options and type -dev and press ok. run game and click to new game and you have enabled cheats, all is working! 2. run game and type to console sv_cheats 1 and type restart. enabled

Reload
impulse 101
Done. Should work now

just figured it out the other day on a listen server by looking around google and being pointed to an other steam discussion for me:

Start server and map loads

Console:
sv_cheats 1
restart
impulse 101

and that works

BUT

I still can't get god or noclip to work. ( FYI /god is and unknown command)

No error message in the console for god or noclip but they don't work.

You have to load a new map after you turn on cheats. Venture to the next area or console-> map mapname or changelevel mapname

I was assuming that restart did the same as loading a map.
Will try what you've suggested.

Tried it your way and it's no different than typing

restart

in the console.

impulse 101 works
give commands work

god doesn't
noclip doesn't

You only need start the Hazard Course or just a New Game and it will work nicely.

I'm sorry,
I probably failed to mention that I'm trying to get these to work on a private Listen Server.
Is that possibly the difference and why they're not working?

So, I guess my deeper question becomes:
What are the differences between in game and listen server console commands?
Is there a way to make the ones that work in game ALSO work in a Listen Server?

Also having problems with noclip and impulse 101 from time to time. Single player campaign, Linux version. Reload another save, or exit the game returning to your original save -- most of the time this procedure fixes the problem. I haven't yet observed any pattern when it's not working or why.

Guys when in game just type in sv_cheats 1, then quicksave and reload the save. Then it works.
