Security Guard Will Not Open Door

I cannot even get past the tutorial on this game. I got up to the part where I have to lead a security guard to the door, but the security guard just walks around like a blind idiot and REFUSES to open the door. I have seen a video of what's supposed to happen, so this surely must be some sort of glitch. I had Steam verify the game's files, but it still won't work.

What can I do?

I don't know what noclip is, and I don't want to reinstall the game.

By tutorial, you mean the hazard course or the intro to the actual game after getting off the tram?

Either way the guard may have bugged out. If you're that early on just try starting a new game.

I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game. It's still not working.

The very first part, where they walk you through the controls and such. The tutorial.

You don't need to play that part, just skip to the main game if it's bugged. Not sure why it is though, works fine for me.

My OCD requires me to play every part of the game. Also, if the security guard won't open the door in the tutorial, then they probably won't open any doors in the rest of the game either. I've seen other people complain about the security guards in Half-Life not opening doors.

Yes, but he never opens the door.

did you let him follow you then bring him by the door? post a video if possible.

From a while ago but I'll post my solution. I had the same problem so I shot the guard, triggered a turret and got killed. When I respawned it worked. Also you don't need to take the guard into the side room with the other guard and the scientist as I originally assumed. You only need to get the guard to follow you up to the door access panel and then he'll open the door.
