Is deathmatch fun for a newcomer?
"Newcomer" as in no experience in games like Quake.

It is fairly high paced. Expect to die a lot and bring some frustration tolerance. That would be true for most multi-player shooters, though.

It is old school high speed run gun N die DM, like quake

If it is fun or not is entirely up to you
