I don't remember, it's been so long. I guess I'm gonna replay it right now, I'll get back to you.

That's cool. I know my least favourite chapter is Interloper. I don't mind Xen itself as much as other people do though.

Favorite: On a rail, Residue Processing, (all of Xen).
Least favorite: Surface Tension, Power up, Forget about Freeman.

That's quite against the grain, but each to their own. I actually don't mind Residue Processing, but not a fan of On A Rail.
I'm on a rail now. Oh the nostalgia :D I played the hazard course/tutorial too just to see what's there, and it got a good laugh out of me. Them telling you to jump on the conrete floor from 5 meters up and run through radioactive goop as part of the course is certainly something.
I will quickly rank the chapters worst to best (for me)

18- Gonarch's lair
17- Xen
16- Forget about freeman
15- Questionable ethics
14-Apprehension
13- Unforseen consequences
12- Nihilant
11- Black Mesa inbound
10- materials
9- Lambda core
8- Interloper
7- Office complex
6- Power up
5- We've got hostiles
4- Residue processing
3- Blast pit
2- Surface tension
1- On a rail

It's not a 100% accurate ranking because I rushed it a bit, but Im 100% sure about the first 3 places at least... I love on a rail

Edit: just as a bonus, I will say the underrated chapters:
On a rail, residue processing, interloper.
And though half life is my favorite game ever, some overrated chapters are:
Questionable ethics... End, just questionable ethics
(I decided to add this bonus because I was bored)

My most favourite ones have to be the ones up until residue processing.
Doesn't mean they get bad after that, I just like them less.

The chapters I really do not like Xen. They seem very rushed and overall not all that interesting
Residue Processing was a pain, yeah. The main strength of the game is it's atmosphere. The slippery jumping mechanics, ehh. I know the game is full of them, but residue processing has some really annoying ones. It does make sense because they take your guns away, but - don't take my guns away, game. Not cool.

I think the most fun I've had chapterwise was "Blast pit" - despite the annoying fan that can't be accessed reasonably. Who the hell designed this.. no wonder they sealed it off.

Nah residue processing was a very fun chapter and it's one of my favorite, and you said why... Atmosphere, that is one of the chapters with the stronger atmosphere... The jumps I like them because they are hard, so there is a skill level... The slippery thing I don't even notice it, because I'm skilled enough to manage that, so if that annoy you it's just that you need to find the trick... The fan in blast pit, never had a problem with that, I thought it was very cool...

Totally disagree, I think all the game chapters are great and very fun in their own way, gonarch's lair maybe is particularly weak compared to others

How do you have Nihilanth ranked way over Gonarch's Lair when both are just overglorified boss fights hardly worth naming an entire chapter after?

If you're having problems killing her, just shoot when she's NOT moving, as she's practically invincible when running around (waste of ammo).

I do not have problems killing the gonarch, but I like the nihilant way more, I think the atmosphere and feeling is very good, and it's the ending... I just like it more, the gameplay itself is not the main thing, I just really like the atmosphere and graphics...

I see what you mean by the atmosphere. Fighting a giant deformed alien baby inside a dark red chamber does feel creepy and desolate. Especially since this track is scripted to play during the fight:

But there's nothing impressive about the graphics, especially when he teleports you to other areas where you have to find your way out in even tighter closed spaces with repetitive textures while getting harassed by Controllers. Just awful.
