Half-Life

Half-Life

is there any lore behind the hivehand???
i was talking about tons of stuff related to hl with my friend and he talks about the cut content from the hivehand, but when he was talking about spore launcher i realised on how tf did hivehand even been able to exist in the first place. like yes it can move n all but not well at all and the bees it shoots only attack, so how does it feed? yes maybe from the host of the user but what if it was never able to get a host? and how would it be born too as the hivehand im pretty sure doesnt have any reproductive organs or any organs at all, it can only shoot attacking bees and if it started out as like a bug that ate alot to get into its size now how could it even get a host because the chances of even being adopted by a host is 1/1000 and if it can only be used by alien grunts and humans the chances of being adopted go well over 1/trillion like how is it possible???

What's the lore behind the headcrab? It perfectly fits a human head and it only ever infects humans, yet there are no humans in Xen.

The answer is, Half Life makes no sense. It's just a bunch of series of events and concepts with very little logic or explanation. That way people can spend a life time of speculating over stuff the developers spent like 5 min thinking about.

Explain how a parasite that comes from an environment that doesn't naturally have humans in it can evolve to specifically attach to humans?

Sometimes you just admit it's a video game.

Suspension of disbelief.

True.
To be fair, Half-Life was never known for making sense or having believable world building. Plus Halo already did the whole parasite thing properly with the flood, headcrabs just can't compete.

Headcrabs are literally inspired by Aliens' facehuggers.

The Flood is a bit different.

i love how everyone is talking about headcrab lore, proves my point further on how mysterious the hivehand is

thats not lore though and why are we talking about headcrabs lol

The point is that there is no lore or explanation for the hivehand. I gave the headcrab as an example to showcase that it's not only the hivehand that lacks lore or an explanation, it's most aspects of Half Life.

Jimbo.

I won't be surprised if the op goes to the half life wiki hivehand page and starts making up his own fan fiction theory.

I was wondering why you couldn't get a hive from the grunt until I noticed that maybe killing the carrier would kill the hand too.
