I can't jump onto the last ladder to go to next level. I'm not very good at jumping, I've tried alt least 50 times using just jump & using ctrl/space bar. Can someone help?

This is a very unusual problem. Since this is GoldSrc all you need to do is touch the ladder and you'll stick to it. You don't have the jump module this early in the game so don't bother crouching just before you jump.

First of all make sure you are running as fast as you can. If you're walking or not at the usual fast running speed you won't make the jump. Then just get a running start down the hall and jump at the edge of the elevator shaft. It's that simple. Try not to fall off after you latch on.

It's not that ladder, it's the third one inside that you have to go to three ladders in the elevator shaft.

Oh.

You mean the one that hangs from the elevator? Well try and jump when you're not on a downwards ramp, the GoldSrc engine is picky about sloped surfaces. If you are really having trouble I would just look up a video walkthrough on that part. I'm also wondering if you're going the wrong way.

don't do the crouch jump, just do a running start and then jump

I found another piece of advice that totally did the trick. In a different forum someone suggested there's a confusion sometimes when jumping to a ladder if the payer is also holding a direction key so to make sure that after you execute the jump to release ALL held down keys and you will then stick to the ladder and be able to look up/ move forward from there. That totally solved the problem for me!

It's not the part where you can run at all, it's after that where you climb up the ladders on the walls of the elevator shaft on three different levels and you need to jump to the ladder on the elevator car where the scientist falls
