-- installed Borderless Gaming, Steam purchase -- I could not get these games to run higher than 60fps and not run poorly to boot in full screen mode, but running them windowed works around this. I set them to run windowed in the game options, along with Vsync off (I have Gsync monitor), and added the three executables to the favorites list in BG to get full screen back, windowed
-- added the following two lines to config.cfg for each game (in the "valve" folder for Half-Life, the "gearbox" folder for Opposing Force, and the "bshift" folder for Blue Shift):
fps_max "120.0" <-- or whichever refresh rate you wish to max out at, if not 60fps; 120fps is my own preference
fps_override "1"
-- after updating, set each config.cfg file to *read only* in properties -- the games will remove the settings added above every time they're launched otherwise
All run nicely at 1440p. GPUs are Nvidia Maxwell, with latest drivers (358.50). Graphics and games are still buggy in spots, but then so are the non-Steam originals.
-sw -noborder
in your launch options to have the game run at borderless windowed.
Good to know; thanks much -- I did notice, though, that BG brings the window out to full screen completely, whereas I can still see the taskbar with the above setting. Is there a console command that adds full screen to borderless windowed?
-fullscreen : : no framed window
-windowed : game will be in a framed window
-noboarder : in windowed mode this removes the frame around it.
-gl : open_gl graphics rendering
-software or -sw : CPU graphic rendering
-normal : monitor size 4:3 ratio
-wide : monitor size 16:9or10 ratio
+gl_vsync 0 : turns off verical Synch in open_gl rendering (can improve FPS)
-nofbo : this turns off some advance rendering in open_gl (can improve FPS)
-nomsaa : turns off AA ;Anti-Aliasing (can improve FPS)
-gl_aniso 0 : Removes anisotrophic filtering (can improve FPS)
-w 800 : width screen resolution size (other sizes can be used)
-h 600 : height screen resolution size (other sizes can be used)
i have the same problem, as you. maybe its because of x32 or x64?
i use windows 10 on an x64 system and i installed half-life on an x32 folder. maybe it works only in an x64 folder...
