Blank screen on Win10
Bought this today, but I can't get it to start correctly on WIndows 10. The screen is completely dark except for a small white box in the upper left hand corner. However my screenshot says otherwise. Any way to fix this?

For anyone else with this issue, I found a fix. Run the game in windowed mode by adding "-windowed" to launch options.

This is to help people who have off sized or black screen when starting the game.
This will allow you to see the games menu options to correct the problem.

Use the game launch options.
1 Click Library in Steam
2 Righr click the Half-Life game
3 Next select properties
4 Click the box "set launch options"
5 Then enter the command "COMMANDS YOU WANT TO USE" no quote marks
5 Then enter the command "-windowed -normal -w 800" no quote marks
6 Click ok

---
Correct your screen resolution in game menu options
1 Start the Half-Life game
2 On the game menu page select option
3 Then click video tab at the top
4 Select the correct mode and resolution for your monitor
5 Click apply

Once you have the correct screen mode and resolution selected.
You will need/should remove the commands in the Half-Life launch options.

Good luck and happy gaming.
---
Note:
-w <width> - Forces the engine to start with resolution set to <width>.
-h <height> - Forces the engine to start with resolution set to <height>. This launch option does not need to be set in the presence of -w. The width value will determine the height automatically.

standard height size is determined by the screen mode -norm or -widescreem
----
P.S
Here are more "set launch options" commands that can be used for video.
-fullscreen : no framed window
-windowed or -sw or -startwindowed : game will be in a framed window
-noboarder : in windowed mode this removes the frame around it.
-gl : open_gl graphics rendering
-software : CPU graphic rendering
-normal : monitor size 4:3 ratio
-wide : monitor size 16:9or10 ratio
+gl_vsync 0 : turns off verical Synch in open_gl rendering (can improve FPS)
-nofbo : this turns off some advance rendering in open_gl (can improve FPS)
-nomsaa : turns off AA ;Anti-Aliasing (can improve FPS)
+gl_aniso 0 : Removes anisotrophic filtering (can improve FPS)
-w 800 : width screen resolution size (other sizes can be used)
-h 600 : height screen resolution size (other sizes can be used)

This thread is pretty old but I had the same problem, and with the free version out for now I bet other people will too. I ended up having to run the game launcher with integrated graphics rather than nvidia, and it seems to be working so far with that.

If "run graphics processor" isn't there when you right click on the desktop icon, try it from hl.exe under half-life's folder in steam's files (program files (x86) > steam > steamapps > common > half-life). I also did do this with that "-windowed" stuff applied so if changing the graphics by itself doesn't work try them together?
