Barney Bug - Please Help

I'm about 3/4ths of the way through Surface Tension and there's this door that only Barney can open. It's by the big gun that shoots the big door open after the helicopter drops all the marines in. I can get a barney to go to the door, though it took a lot of pushing and convincing. Once the barney opens the door, he just stands there blocking it. If I try to kill him, he just yells at me, but won't die. It seems impossible to get into this door. I took a screenshot of it, but I have no idea how to post into this forum. Please help me figure out how to get past this bug. Do I need to load an older version of Half-Life that didn't have this bug?

Also, a somewhat related bug is there was one of those monsters near this door (the big ones that shoot bees), and it was just stuck in the hallway and didn't do anything. I was able to walk up to it and beat it with a crowbar and he didn't move an inch. This game seems so buggy now days with the latest version :-(

If you're playing the beta version it's no suprise there may be some bugs. So in case you didn't do that yet, try opting out of the beta?

I ended up getting it to work finally after a few hours and now the barnies don't get stuck on walls all the time. Here's what I did to get it to work: In steam, I went to the properties of the game and ran Verifify Integrety of Game Cache. Each time I did this, it would fail on over 4000 files, and then download for a long time. Every time I do this, it always fails, which seems like a different bug. Then in the game, I loaded a slightly older save file and went back to the previous load point (where I found the gun that shoots the bees). I did that a few times and then everything seemed to fix itself. Sometimes I wonder if every time Steam auto updates the game, it corrupts the integrity of all my save files. That's just a theory.

I didn't know there's a beta for Half-Life. What does the beta do?
