Should I Finish Half Life 1 For The Story or Skip It?

I'm just going to be completely honest here and say I cannot stand Half-Life 1. I don't think it aged very well. I'm sure it was a fun game, but it's just hard to play now and it's the only thing putting me off from playing Half-Life 2. So would it be worth it to just watch a summary on youtube of the story, finish the game but not enjoy it, or scrape some cash up to get Black Mesa instead?

HEhe yeah HL is hard, brutal and totally not suited for casual gamers who have become like spoon fed brats tnx to most of this dumb down games this dumb a-ss--es game corps are releasing, yeah blame the current gaming industry to suck-i-ng down to age 3 level type of games LOL! Some this new games have is good graphics but no actual high quality challenging rewarding gameplay.

HL have crappy graphics on today standard but unless you're brain dead look really close at it's AI and gameplay and story line, it never bn that good.

So for OP...if you're having a hard time playing HL then use cheats, now if you can't even run the cheats ask mommy to make the cheats work for you ...yeah google and even steam search tab are totally nonexistent on kid's and adult's IQ when they come here.

Oh my lord, every time I see some say that Half-Life hasn't aged well(the graphics don't matter, the animation and model quality does), there's gonna be that one guy who says that the game isn't suited for casual gamers.

I like Half-Life, I think it's fun, I beat Xen numerous times, the quality of graphics are excuseable for a 1990's game, the complex story and how it's presented is great, but when you take a look at everything else, Half-Life really dies out there.

And for the record, I didn't have a hard time with the puzzles and that, I meant it was just drearing to play. I ain't claiming to be a "pro mlg super kewl gamerz dank 420" or whatever, I like challenging myself in games but it wasn't the difficulty that put me off.

Just watch a let's play or walkthrough on YouTube, watch Freeman's Mind, or, (if you have any cash by the time I type this response), if you want the more updated gameplay and graphics of Half Life 2, but with the atmosphere and story of Half Life 1, get Black Mesa. Just be warned, it doesn't have Xen yet (or so I think, IDK at the moment), so it isn't a complete package like the original Half Life is.

If you want graphics, complete Black Mesa. But original Half-Life is cheaper and it is made by Valve. I enjoyed playing original Half-Life. Don't skip it, play at least Black Mesa, they are worth completing.
