How do you make mods work on Half life?

So i put the mods in the right folder, i extracted it, so how do i play?

The way it works under WON HL is to select "Custom Game" from the main menu, then select the mod you want to play, then click on "Activate" and select "New Game". Don't know if it works the same way with Steam HL.

I run my mods using shortcut commands. I simply put the folder where the valve folder reside basically inside the HL main folder. Then I make a shorcut of the hl.exe and add this lines, for example when using the mod, Counter-Life...

D:\Half-Life\hl.exe -steam -game Counter-Life -noipx -nojoy -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -gl

Mod folders never uses any extra characters and spaces in order for them to work when launching them via shortcut commands...look at this folders all named really simple like valve, gearbox, cstrike, etc.

This technique basically works for either steam or won HL copies especially if the mod is not showing on your steam library.

Drop it in the route of the hl1 game files, then restart steam and the mod should appear in your library.

how do you do it on mac
