Half-Life

Half-Life

Source Ports
Are there any source ports for this game (besides the obvious Half-Life: Source)? Like DOOM has ZDoom, Wolfenstein has ECWolf and Quake has Darkplaces, but what about Half-Life?

There is one which ports it to an engine on Android, but I don't remember the name of it.

HL doesnt need a source port. It works on all versions of Windows natively (excluding the Steam version on 95/98 because Steam itself isn't supported.)

DOS games need a source port (or DOSBox) because Windows XP and higher doesn't have DOS functionality.

You mean Xash3D?

Xash3d is a pretty good one. It works on the phone, pc, Most consoles with homebrew, pretty much everything

i don't think there are actual source ports of HL unless you count the PS2 and Source engine ports. Xash3D was reverse-engineered since the GoldSRC code was never released by Valve.

People will get mad about Xash3D, and some mod teams will get mad if you run their mods on Xash

Valve will say it violates their TOS

People will say it contains illegal code

This is, of course, bullsh*t

Any of the accusations of stolen code I've yet to be able to verify for myself, and ironically enough if someone told me specifically what code, if any, was stolen, they'd be in possession of stolen code themselves, because IP laws are r-tarded

I'm not on Xash's side either, I'm on the side of not being full of sh*t, if anyone can show me for sure Xash is in some way bad (other than just Valve or someone on Steam/Reddit saying they are) then I'll modify my stance, but that has yet to happen

Revisiting this discussion nearly 5 years later, I just want a hardware accelerated mode where all the z-fighting is fixed and I can choose software-style graphics or higher end graphics like what we saw in Half-Life: Source.
