Yeah i've tried brutal half-life, it's pretty fun. Makes the game very satisfying, all the guns feel like they have more impact.
Can I get a link to that, please? <evil grin>
It could make for amusing 'Let's Play' fail moments, but that's about it.

In Half-Life 1, you actually do have priority allies. Allies that, once killed, cause the game to restart from your last save. Examples being the Surgery Room scientists, or the scientists who open the portal to Xen. Why you can kill allies in the first game, but not the second game is frustrating to me too.
When you kill Priority Allies in Half-Life 1, it does have the same effect as it does in Half-Life 2. If you play the Half-Life 2 Campaign through Garry's Mod, you can kill of people like Eli Vance, or Judith Mossman. Because there never was a planned fail safe, it simply results in scripted events stalling indefinitely.
No matter which way you really look at it, there really is no difference in killing the Surgery Room scientists, or killing Eli Vance at Black Mesa East. Both are crucial to the continuation of the campaign.
EDIT: I stand corrected. It actually works.
They say stuff like:
"Stop it, Freeman!"
"Watch what you're doing!"
"Freeman! We're on your side!"
You can find this in Garry's Mod when you shoot Half-Life 1 Security Officers and Scientists in sight of Half-Life 2 Citizens. Strangely not when you attack other citizens, though.
Yes it is. And? What are you doing in steam forums if you're going to say that
