There are seperate multiplayer models, HD one has more polygons and looks better, LD ones are more simple. It was added to reduce fps drops by the developers for a smooth multiplayer experience. Of course that was for 1998 computers, now it is not an issue.
So you're saying there's two versions of the non-hd pack multiplayer models? Does that mean there's 3 versions of each multiplayer model (non-hd low quality, non-hd high quality, and hd), or 4 (are there two versions for hd pack models too)? And I assume you're specifically saying that the models it changes are specifically the player models in multiplayer only?
Also, (and this is just me being curious) where are all the different model versions located in the files (if you know)? With my extremely limited knowledge of Half-Life's files, I can only seem to find 1 version of each player model...
