no sound

when i load up the game i hear no sound, when i am in the game. i have no sound my pc is not muted i just watched a video to check and the sound is working fine, anyone know what the problem is

try something in volume mixer maybe its muted there?

Did you ever resolve this issue? I have no sound in a specific set of games, including Half-Life and other Source engine games. All other sounds in 90% of my library works fine and I can watch videos etc. I've tried reinstalling drivers from the motherboard manufacturers website etc and still no luck. Getting to the point where I'm about to reinstall windows if this keeps up

Have you tried turning up the volume from the game options?

I have the same issue, it happens to me multiple times. Try restarting the computer.

Same issue here, starting doing this out of no where. Weirdly enough, it happens in Source games too (Half-Life 2 has no audio in the intro, Left 4 Dead 2 has no audio in the menu, etc.) I didn't change anything about my computer and it's been like this for well over a week. I hope someone finally finds a solution to this problem.
EDIT: Uninstalling the device drivers for my DAC and letting Windows re-install them fixed the issue too, this time you don't have to remove the DAC. I guess FiiO's drivers were causing issues.

I just figured it out! I use headphones connected to a FiiO KA1 DAC, and unplugging that and plugging my headphones directly into the motherboard instead brought back the missing audio.
