Source is more modern and uses more resources but plays better on a slighly faster pc.
You get the same storyline and gameplay if your PC can handle it.
Also there are a ton of mods for HL1. I'm sure there are ports of at least some of them to HLS.
1 seems like the obvious choice when diving into the Half-Life world.
obviously? It is generally universally disliked, why should anyone play the source version over the original goldsource one?
Anyway the Source version is only good for Gmod assets while the original is still supperior.
But WON > all.
Don't bother with Source, it's buggy as hell and you can't play mods for the original with it.
