What year does Half-life 1 take place in?

Any thoughts? Valve has never confirmed and nobody has an exact agreed upon answer. I heard 1998 To 2009. My guess in 90s or 1998 because of the weapons and vehicles.

2000..2009. Also do not forget that HL universe have some differences between our one... Teleportation through xen for instance and this can affect technology levels at this moment of history

Official numbers:
Half-Life 1: 200- sometime in the early 2000s, 2000-2009.
Half-Life 2: 20 years after that
Half-Life Alyx: 5 years before Half-Life 2.
Alyx is 19 years old in HL: Alyx, so in HL2 she is 24.

HL2 takes place 30 years after HL1 so it's fairly forward in the timeline, however Gman could be lying.
