Can't kill the Ichthyosaur.

Personally i'm a real gamer, and i play Half-Life on hard. But for some reason 5 crossbow hits dont kill the Ichtyosaur! Pls help.

It has 400HP on Hard, the crossbow does 50 damage on every diffculty.

It takes 8 shots to kill it on Hard.

You probably didn't even hit it in the first place. Crossbow has weird physics with water. Bolt flies downwards while looking up, and upwards while looking down. If it fired straight, it would actually be useful.

Just kite with the pistol or take popshots from safety with the shotgun.

Also i know i was hitting the Ichthyosaur because the weird yellow blood sprite came out when i shot it, thanks for the help, and no thanks to PsyWarVeteran, all types of gamers should not be oppressed by their own kind, and we shall defeat them. Gamers Rise Up!

Kiting is essentially fleeing from enemies so you can get some distance between you and them, incredibly useful for melee based enemies. It's a fancy word for tactical retreat except it sounds less like you're trying to be a military LARPer. Games that allow you to sprint while running make kiting more of "shoot behind you while you run backwards"

I thought it was more literal. If you're holding an actual kite, it's going to follow you everywhere you go, in spite of it freely moving.
