Well...

https://wiki.sourceruns.org/wiki/Bunnyhopping

In later versions, including the Steam version, bunnyhopping speed limit is capped to 544ups. If you exceed that speed, the game will simply slow you down on your next jump. A way to bypass that is to use Duckroll as the ducking speed is not capped in the engine.

The duckroll is described here:

https://wiki.sourceruns.org/wiki/Duckroll#Duckroll

The Duckroll (Also called Duckloop by some) is a variation of the Doubleduck technique, it consists on using an alias to make continuous and very fast doubleducks, It is mainly used to control your speed when moving at a very high velocity and to maintain speed when moving towards a staircase, among other useful situations.

To perform duckrolls you'd want to use these aliases:

https://wiki.sourceruns.org/wiki/Half-Life_Scripts#Object_Boosting

alias +duckroll "alias _special duckroll;duckroll"
alias -duckroll "alias _special"
alias duckroll "+duck;wait;-duck;wait;special"

The problem is that "_special" command was removed in 2013.

https://wiki.sourceruns.org/wiki/Half-Life_Scripts#Object_Boosting

NOTE: Since Half-Life Beta Update (2013-05-16), the _special command has been removed.
Scripts using this command will no longer work on Steam client.

In other words it's pretty hard to do it in current Steam versions of Half-Life.

If you want to do some speedruns you'd better go with won version of HL.

As for your question... I guess some speedrunners do it manually (by binding ducks and jumps to mouse wheel or something like that (I guess)) and some use bunny hop mod.
