I am stuck at the point where I need to turn a valve to open an emergency tunnel. The walkthrough on YT shows the valve staying open, however, when I release it it returns to the original position. Any help would be appreciated.

I just started playing it yesterday and its really well made. It has a great attention to detail and even made passing through the same area 3 times kind of interesting.

You wouldn't be missing out on much, you just wont get some of the things like the ending. I recommend playing both half life 1 and 2 before this one but its not a requirement.

i tried installing with the exe file and when i tried installing it to the half life folder it says it already exists would you like to install anyway or something like that so is it ok to click yes

It shouldn't and if it does just uninstall and reinstall half life 1.

I used sv_cheats to get around an obstacle and now none of the enemy AI attack me. Anyone know what's causing this?
