Well anyway, who am I to judge: because HL is a 1998 game it's pretty normal it doesn't support a controller. You can try plugging the controller in and try to change the setting manually. Go to options, keyboard and edit the setting for your controller. Other than that I don't think there is a way to play it with a controller, some external programs maybe?
Do people not know Steam Input exists? you dont even have to use BPM anymore .
Your best bet is to use a keyboard mapping program. I've forgotten names of particular programs, since it's been a while since i've played games that don't support them.

And for those who tell me to go somewhere else because I'd rather play on a controler than on a keybord, remenber that I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about your opinion.
You can't argue that a control is the best mobile controller input.
But I am still free to express my opinion now, aren't I? Steam Input is pretty dope actually
