If you are trying to install Cry Of Fear mod version in Half-Life steam version as I know it won' t work because of a past update made by Valve that has broke Half-Life mods: http://www.cry-of-fear.com/forum/index.php?topic=3220.0
If you want install Cry Of Fear into Half-Life non Steam version as a mod problably you could try with this: http://www.indiedb.com/games/cry-of-fear/downloads/cry-of-fear-10-original-installer
If you want to make a Cry Of Fear backup from standalone version I think you can just make a copy of Cry Of Fear standalone version folder.
Sorry for my eventual not very well english.
PC games were made for modding, people should stop trying to stop us from modding games.
Then, in the description of this video is written that mods such Cry Of Fear requires also source sdk 2006-2007 to work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnsuaYlQfbU
Damn, where can I find the old half life, or the SDK. Preferably a safe SDK mod. Or are you saying since I have Afraid of Monsters, I cannot re-mod half life?
Do you know where I can find Source 2006 or 7?
The SDK can be download by "Tools" section of Steam.
Anyway, I don' t know how Half-Life oldest versions and SDK from Steam can work together.
I think the only way to get a working backup of Cry Of Fear that can be played also without Steam(if is this that interests you) is get some repack/steamrip of Cry Of Fear.
I found SDK last night, still cannot find a way to get Cry Of Fear working though. I do not know what the person in the video meant.
Anyway, Cry Of Fear as Half-Life mod problably doesn' t have ways to work, otherwise, at least a tutorial on how to let it work could had already been made at this time.
With Steam removing games, I am just afraid they will remove Cry of Fear, I have 50 hours in that game, and it is one of my most played.
Anyway, a backup of the game can be made also trough Steam right-clicking on game's title in "Library" section of Steam and selecting backup, but Steam is required to restore it: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8794-yphv-2033&l=english
Thank you, I put so much time into this game, got a lot of the outfits, and camera of death. 50 hours time played as well, and it just became my top played game over Fallout. It's a really good game to me, criminally underrated even.
