"Looks like you're in the barrel today."
It seems to me that a lot of people don't get what this phrase means in-game so let me clear it up for those of you.

The chamber in which the Anti-Mass Spectrometer resides is barrel shaped. Hence, it is "the barrel". Gordon is going to conduct the sample analysis within "the barrel". That is where he is going to be on that day. In the barrel.

There. Mystery solved.

People don’t know what that means?

This is totally worth creating a thread, also it is completely wrong.

"in the barrel" is a phrase from a joke. Saying someone 'is in the barrel' means that it is their turn to suffer an unpleasant task.

urban dictionary is great

Yes, exactly. It's a double meaning. I should probably have put that at the start but I was so intent at making my point I forgot. It just irritates me that mod makers only use it in the context of the dirty joke.

If I remember correctly, the expression comes from a story where a group of sailors use a barrel that they strip naked and masturbate in. Soon after the new guy starts using it, he becomes way more calm and collected. The captain notices and says "Well new guy, looks like you're in the barrel today."
