Why Freeman?

Is there an explanation why are HECU marines want freeman dead so bad? I mean all of the sciencists are expendable for them, but any other reason why freeman is important to them other than just to build tension for a player?

Because you've been killing their boys. They might at first want to kill you simply because you're a scientist but once you kill one of them...

Probably because he's most likely to escape. The whole reason they're even there is to cover the incident up and kill every witness so nobody can tell the rest of the world what happened.

It's simple more simple than all what they said here, they were cheated by G-man and they thought that you provocated the incident in purpose. However, The unique guy that should have kill Freeman in a more profesional way was Shephard, but since he crashed, soldiers needed to change plans so they needed to kill scientists from big zones around Sector C in a more heavy way hoping to find and kill Freeman at time, with all after first combats soldiers that even didn't know why they were against Freeman just wanted to kill him because he killed partners.

Freeman been killing the marines's buddies while the marines were killing freeman's buddies too. That should make it even.
