Half-Life

Gus Mod
Gus the Forklift Operator is known for being probably the least known of all the characters in the Half-Life Universe, due to how little is his backstory. Gus is described and shown only as a forklift operator, cranky in nature, sporting facial hair stubble and a somewhat overweight man, albeit with some muscle. So, with that being said, I feel that the character has much untapped potential; he could still be given a great backstory (e.g. his wife left him), described fairly quickly and early on, so as not to distract from the regular storyline. He would likewise be given a regular storyline (e.g. Loner, Dedicated to his job, Driven for whatever reasons, an Underdog.). In essence, he could really be made interesting, especially more interesting. The story would obviously focus on his escape and becoming a hero in the process. On to heroics, his storyline could cross with that of Adrian Shephard, for he could at some point save, e.g. Drill Instructor Sharpe, but Sharpe later and somehow doesn't survive, which denotes a certain irony and to possibly even meet Wallace Breen would be excellent because we haven't yet had the opportunity to see him during his days as Administrator of the Black Mesa Research Facility. A meeting of some sort between the highest ranking and the lowest ranking would surely excite, especially due to the fact that both men survive.

The title, Half-Life: Just Another Day would fit him perfectly, because even though underdeveloped, out of all the characters, his facial expression (courtesy of combine overwiki) best says, quite arguably, that its just another workday at Black Mesa. Granted, when speaking in terms of Black Mesa Research Facility's hierarchy of positions, Gus is even lower ranked with security clearance than Gordon Freeman and Barney Calhoun, undoubtably. It is that there are multiple forklift drivers, also of lower security clearance, who are seen by Gordon and Barney in Half-Life and Half-Life: Blue Shift, respectively. The other drivers could possibly be seen by Gus, in both the beginning of the Mod and during his fight to survive and escape. But let it be known sometime before the end of the adventure that he is the only survivor of these others, for most of them could be shown dying by way of headcrab zombie, hydra, the pit worm, shock trooper and voltigore and the rest's deaths left up to the imagination. This idea would add to the constantly builded tension and right before its ending. And so, it's also an idea that his character could be described at the end of the Mod as the following:

Subject: Gus [Last Name? Probably not, lol.] or Gus the Operator

Status: Whereabouts Unknown or In Hiding.

Application Pending

This is similar to Barney's ending in Half-Life: Blue Shift.

To know that he was a survivor of the Incident would be absolutely reassuring. Yes, Gus certainly deserves his own Mod! And so, this begs the following question: Should there be a Mod for Gus or perhaps it would be better to leave his character a mystery? And if so, should the Mod be made using the GoldSrc or Source Engine?
