on a rail screams

as many peaople reading this know at some areas of on a rail odd screams can be heard. I was wondering if we ever got a explination for what these screams are coming from. Or is it still a mystery? Are there any theories that have been made to explain them? Im just curious.

My possible theories:
- Zombies, it can be their screams (other aliens are unlikely)
- Tentacle, when it dies being burned has the same scream but slowed down
- Ghosts maybe... Since those screams were made for HL: Uplink

Here's a mod for Half-Life 1 that adds Half-Life Uplink levels right into the main game just before the lambda core chapter in the orginal which is pretty cool.
http://www.moddb.com/mods/half-life-uplink-addon I hope something like this can be done for Black Mesa someday as well.

Here is what i think it is, Psychological Warfare.
Used in the Vietnam War in 1968-1970(ish) they made tapes with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scary sounds and voices(For them brave poopers Operation Wandering Soul Ghost Tape 10) Even though its very unlikely that the Scientists are religious like the Vietcong, Aliens making a scary noise would make me blow my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brains out as i do not wanna know what horrendous creature made that sound. Just imagine what horror lies behind the creature that made that sound, and from a civilians(Scientist) perspective imagine this "Friends torn apart, collegues lined up and exucted, brave guards taken over by small aliens latching on their heads and mutilating their bodies, then those screams, if you havent lost your mind, you will after that point. After hearing those sounds in the tunnels, your sanity is most likely none existant. You are in hell my friend, and the devil is coming." Enjoy :D
