The ones that heal the most are the two steaks.
One thing you can do is equip the Unicorn Ring (+20% healing from items) while you're paused and THEN use some food items to try to make them a bit better. getting +20 more health from Fried Fish isn't a huge increase but it's something.
Here's hoping it'll be patched in
You can see how much an item has healed you for after using it, quitting out of the menu into the game, there should be a green number on top of Miriam's head indicating how much you just healed.
