Let's acknowledge it... Shoes are Miriam's canon weapon
Where the Belmonts favored whips and crosses, where Alucard fancied his sword, Miriam quite plainly is the type to send demons to Heel with a pair of fashionable boots. It's as if Chun-Li were guest starring as a bonus character in Castlevania.

Yea I think shoes are her "canon" weapon considering no matter what weapon you have equipped, in the cutscenes she's kicking enemies.

Like near the start of the game where you save the blonde girl, Miriam kicks the creature. And multiple times you see he go into "kick stance".

I see what you did there

Considering her unarmed attack is kicks, yes, it certainly leans that way. Pity most of them are garbage compared to the game breaker swords.

I was under the impression that the whip was her canon weapon because of the seemingly no longer canon prequel game, but this game's art has her wielding a sword, and as valroth mention her unarmed attacks are kicks, soooooo...

They could certainly stand to make some flashier techniques for kicks. They're pretty much spoilt for choice when it comes to sources of inspiration, basically half the fighting games that have ever existed.

Kicks are great if you like to slide spam. Little things about the game make it neat, like how Safe Ring exists to buff defense/nerf attack which is clearly so you can train your techniques early in the game without much hassle.

She's holding a sword in the promo art so I'mma have to lean toward swords.

The chest Johannas prepared had a knife and Kung Fu shoes in it, though, so she's clearly known to be adept at both.

She's stupid good at everything considering she's eighteen. I guess it's an effect of the crystal and the shards, as the 72 spirits of the Key of Solomon were all supposed to be able to grant unearthly skills upon those who called upon them.

Katana is the name of the game, because it's the most plentiful of techniques you access and learn.

Kinda like Soma and Johnathan Morris.

Soma had an excuse, he was literally being fed power by the castle. (Which is kinda implied to be what both Dominique and Gremory were hoping would happen with Miriam)

Johnathan, I don't remember ever being properly explained. Charlotte was vaguely a Belnades descendant (the distinction between the Belnades and Belmonts is also weird if Sypha is in fact Simon's grandmother).

What I mean with Soma is how he just knows how to use any weapon he picks up. Until the eclipse event, he was merely an exchange student. How did he learn how to use all that stuff so well instantly?

You forgot that the Alchemist trained their Shardbinders in combat.

Don't the bookcases state they gave the shard children training to be able to fight the demons?
