How to disable Steam's use of F12 for screenshots? (I want it for my head light)
The default binding for the head light in this game is F12. But Steam takes F12 for screenshots. Is there a way to make steam stop screenshotting every time I turn my head light on or off? I don't want to map to a different key in Deus Ex because it's logical where it is since the other bio aguments are done with function keys.

Steam -> Settings -> In-game. You can remove the screen shot key, or remap it.

Thanks.

You can also set the F12 keybinding to the F key ingame

Yeah that's what I did, F for Flashlight feels much more natural than reaching all the way for the F12 key~

Yup, it is really clunky moving your arm just to activate the flashlight.

Yeah but I addressed that already in my original post where I said I preferred to keep it as F12 in the game and wanted to change the screenshot key for Steam instead. Deus Ex is not the only game to use the F12 key for something, so I figured moving it to something more rare would be a good thing (I ended up moving it to ALT+Home, and using ALT-End for the Steam overlap (as opposed to shift-tab, which is a dumb default becasue that's how you move to the previous field in just about EVERY gui system ever.)

Hey, bdw my steam overlay in this game is not working (I have checked it under the properties tab). Is it due to Kenties launcher?

My Steam overlay is working with every renderer (d3d9, new opengl, d3d10) on a crappy netbook (intel c2d 1.3Ghz + Ati Mobility 4550)

The steam overlay works for me even with Kentie's launcher.

It's Augmentation, Light.

Odd, I found F12 was automatically the flashlight every time I played. I know I can rebind keys so I can do screenshots but I've never done anything cool enough to warrant a screen shot in Deus Ex.

My original point in the question of this thread ages ago wasn't "How do I use F12 for the light?" It was "How do I get it to STOP being the binding for Steam's screenshot?". The situation I was in was that hitting the one key was doing both at the same time. Every time I toggled the light, I *also* was taking a screenshot. The solution I wanted was to keep the binding the same in Deus Ex, but change it in Steam (rather than the other way around - keep it the same in Steam and change it in Deus Ex).

Thus why remapping it in Steam was the answer I got that helped.
