If I'm not wrong it's in the same timeline but 50 years in the future after HR

In the future....that is super interesting!

Here's the timeline:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (2027) [3] / Deus Ex: The Fall (2027) [4]
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (2029) [5]
Deus Ex (2052) [1]
Deus Ex 2: Invisible War (2072) [2]

Guess you should stick with the release order.

Play Deus Ex (2052), and as many ways as you choose as it has great re-playability, then forget the rest.

I made the mistake of buying the others - Mankind Divided excluded as I had finally realised that none came even close to matching the original.

Still, as ever, the choice is yours.

Ignore this guy, forget Deus Ex The Invisible War as it was designed with the limitations of the old first gen Xbox in mind, hence why the levels are so broken down. Human Revolution is more of a complete package with smaller levels but just as many opportunities as the original Deus Ex and a better narrative, with better voice acting.

Human Revolution has a better narrative?

Cutscene stupidity moments, three characters worth remembering, no memorable antagonists, no purpose to your actions until after Hengsha, only a tenuous grasp of the events unfolding around you, and an ending that makes you wonder what they had planned before the almighty deadline stepped in.

Human Revolution has better graphics and better dialog. In every other way it is worse than Deus Ex. And it is STILL one of the best games of the past decade.

So just because deux ex orginal is the best dont bother playing the others the ♥♥♥♥ logic is that lol. Yeh dont do that your missing out, sure the orginal is the best, but the others are good 2 and the new one is great probably the 2nd best if it wasnt for the glitches. Invisible war is by far the worst and its bad for a deus ex game but in its own right its stlll a decent game and if you get heavy into the story its worth playing.

Nvm, you're right about that, but I agree with you about it being one of the best games out there. Though the two prequel time periods have and show more culture, and in Mankind Divided they're starting to tie in with the originals.

Play DX1 first, HR and MD especially have many references that you'll appreciate.

As others have said, the original game takes place a couple decades after Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. The newer games are a perfectly fine place to start, especially if you have difficulties getting into older games sometimes, and they take place first in the series chronology anyway.

That being said, they're the types of prequels that include a lot of foreshadowing, subtle references and story connections, and little fan servicey references and parallels to the original game that you'd only pick up on if you've played the original. So, if you've already played the new games or are planning to play them first, it may be kind of fun to revisit them sometime in the future after playing the original game.

I agree with the general consensus that Invisible War is the worst game in the series (besides The Fall) and has aged worse than the original game, but I still enjoy it quite a bit and consider it to be rather underappreciated. Certainly it's worth playing if you're really into the whole series mythology, or just really enjoy Deus Ex's particular brand of sneaky-shooty-talky choice driven gameplay.

I still wonder is the Fall put after DX3 in chronologies, when you meet people in the Fall who Jensen already killed in DX3… The Fall is a prequel to DX3 and comes second in timeline, after Icarus Effect.

At the post-credits of Deus Ex: Human Revolution there is a very heavy reference to Deus Ex. I've never played the original but got it.
There are also many e-mails between Reed and the original's antagonist.
