Essentially, you need a new renderer, but in general it is recommended to add the listed things.

Well if you dont want to put the effort into the most common fix, aka the above posts... then the "easy way" as you say is would be to turn your brightness up on your monitor, or use your graphics cards software (eg.. nvidia control panel) to turn up the gamma.
Setting the gamma through your monitor is just a few buttons on the back or bottom of your monitor, surely you dont need to be a windows guy to figure that out.
As for installing revision, if you were looking to play "Deus Ex", youve gone a bit too far in your "easy fix" im afraid, as you have just modded your game with completely different levels than the original as well as changes to the ai, weapons, and items throughout the game.
Both of those guides above do 2 things the same, copy and paste kenties launcher, copy and paste the new direct3d10 renderer, you only need to do those 2 things to fix the original issue at hand.. again, you dont need to be a windows guy to be able to copy and pase a few files... both windows and mac, as well as all gui based linux distro's handle the idea of copy and pasting the same way... you can click and drag, right click and copy, ctrl + c & ctrl + v to copy and paste ect... even the file explorers are practiacally the same nowadays, except in windows you dont need to mount and dismount the drives you want to use.
It's a matter of downloading 2-3 things and following simple instructions. If that isn't easy for you you wouldn't like Deus Ex.
