Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Resolution Problems
I wanted to playe this in 1920x1080 so I opened up the .ini file and edited the fullscreen parameters but when I launch the game the screen is off to the top left and the mouse sensitivity is through the roof such that I cannot choose any option in the menu. Is my only option re-editing the .ini and playing without 1920x1080?

Did you do the usual steps to adapt this game to your system?

sooo...you're saying a need a mod to play in 1920x1080? Because I heard otherwise but if that's truly the case then so be it.
You can do 1080p through the ini but either you did it wrong or are on a renderer that sucks. Kentie's Launcher is all you need anyway, unless you want ♥♥♥♥♥♥ FOV as well.

I don't get why people refuse to use a tiny and open source launcher replacement which fixes pretty much any compability problem but rather insist on messing around with config files while getting an inferior solution.

TParis it’s not some simple solution. I downloaded the launcher without changing any ini files and the game will not correctly configure to 2560x1440 no matter what I do it’s windowed. Either in the center or top left.

Well theoretically it is because this works for the vast majority of people.
There's always the exception.

If it didn't work for 2560x1440 it won't work for 1920x1080 either since they're the same resolution (16/9) so how do I configure it to work?

That's not true. They are different resolutions, 16:9 is the aspect ratio, not the resolution, and just because one works doesn't mean the other will even at the same aspect ratio for a multitude of reasons. For example, Direct X 7 doesn't support anything higher than 1920x1080, even though both 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 are 16:9 ratio's.

Just grab the direct3d10 renderer from kentie.net aswell as the launcher from the same site, and use the launcher to change the renderer and resolution... The games 20 years old so yes you do need to download a couple of things to get it working right, sorry but it is how it is.

What if I don't want to use the launcher

Then don't play at high resolutions. Your fault.

So you're saying there isn't a single solution in the world without using an external program, and it's also my problem. Sure sure

I'm saying if you don't want to do it the easy way, then yes it is your problem. I mean, no one else is suffering are they?

You can play without the launcher, and set the renderer and resolution from the deusex.ini, but you'll still need an updated renderer if you want your 1080p or 4k, that's the thing that will allow you to use the higher resolutions.

The launcher does more than just make it easier to change some settings, it fixes save game corruption, stops random crashes from happening, and there's a %90 chance you won't have to come back here for help because of some other issue.

If your concerned about the launcher, it is open source so you can read the code and compile it yourself, or you can scan the executable for viruses, otherwise just simply don't use it, your choice... Just don't bother coming here for help if you run into trouble, because we'll all suggest it again as a solution.

Edit: again just to make it clear, it's the renderer that is holding you back from using higher resolutions.. You NEED either the direct3d10 from kentie.net or opengl or direct3d9 from https://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr
Don't wanna use that? Then play in window mode or 1024x768.. Your choice

It worked, thanks for the help
As suggested, if I'll have any other problems I'll deal with them on my own, so thank you for actually helping
