Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

Trying to open the inventory crashes the game [SOLVED]
I'm running the game in Deus Exe, and it was working fine until I loaded my current save. I'm near the elevator in the Airfield, and when I try and access the inventory screen, the game immediately freezes, but the audio continues. Has anyone had a similar issue? I have no idea how to fix it

I have a similar problem with BioMod, but the inventory eventually opens after a minute or two. Doesn't happen all the time, luckily. At least made me consider doing another no-item run. :hexhappy:

try setting UsePrecache to false in your deusex.ini file under the renderer your using.. this is usually an issue with the directx10 renderer, the inventory screen pausing for a long period of time that is.

I checked and it's already set to false.

Using kenties launcher and one of the enhanced renderers?

What's an enhanced renderer I can use?

Try either the directx 9 or opengl renderer for deus ex here: http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/
I installed and tested both of the renderers but I have the same issue with both of them: my game runs much slower, and crashes very shortly after loading a save file. Obviously my PC is above and beyond the system requirements for this game, so I'm not sure why this is happening.

Does this only happen with your current save or does it happen on a fresh game aswell?

What are your specs?

And just to be sure, you did set the renderer in the launcher settings?

I only tried loading my current save, but I'll try starting a new game now.

I tried starting a new game. It doesn't crash, but it's running very slow.

Hmm strange, here's a few more ideas:

Disable any mods if you had any installed.

Try the directx10 renderer, it's at kenties website... Quick Google search for deus ex directx10 should point you in the right direction. I wouldn't imagine it making the game run faster but worth a shot.

Try removing/backup your deusex.ini file from your documents/deusex/system folder (that's where the config is when using kenties if you didn't already know) and let the game generate a new one, see if that helps any.

Other option would be to backup your saves, and do a verify of the game cache in steam (right click game in steam, properties, last tab, verify game cache) you'll need to get kenties launcher again, and an enhanced renderer like the opengl one, but that's about all I can think of, game wise atm.

Has your laptop been running slow in general at all?

My laptop hasn't been running slow outside of this game.

I extracted the contents of the Deus Ex folder in the direct3d10 archive to my system folder, but direct3d 10 doesn't show up in my list of renderers in deus exe.
How does the game generate a new deusex.ini file?

By getting kentie's launcher and the opengl renderer again, do you mean reinstalling the game?
BadMojo Mar 4, 2017 @ 9:24pm
If you verify the game cache, it will replace any files that aren't the original files from the game. So you'll just need to replace the deusex.exe file again with kenties. It's like starting fresh without having to reinstall.

It's strange that the directx10 renderer isn't showing up. Just to be sure though, it's the files in the directx10 zip that go in your steamlibrary/common/deusex/system folder, not the folder with the files in it (if the dx10 zip had a folder in it)
I'm not sure why it's not showing up though, unless there in the wrong spot.
