Steam deck Compatibility
I absolutely love Dirt 1, and I've been thinking of buying Dirt 2.0. I've noticed that 2.0 is not compatible with the steam deck... I have a few other games that are "unsupported" that seem to work though.

Does anyone play this on Deck? If so... what is your experience with the game?

very good. 60 fps no issues. Ofcourse If you care about really climbing the leaderboards and doing the hardest difficulty then a small screen and steamdeck controlls aren't ideal. buf if you just want to casual rally and do some weekly or daily multiplayer stages just for completion then its a way great to play from bed :)

It is a big 110 gb game though and no option to remove dlc or content that you dont use, so it will take a lot of space.

I bought it! But, in order to do Career mode, I need to be connected to the internet. And for a device as portable as the Deck... It doesn't see the internet particularly often.

I don't care about uploading times or scores... Couldn't give a rat's butt about rising through local or global leaderboards... Is there an unofficial patch to remove this requirement from campaign? Even when I start the game connected, and then disconnect, the game doesn't seem to care. It just boots me out.

On top of that, For some reason I started with 2 mil credits, and a boatload of cars. (Bought the GOTY version) If I reset my career, can I start the game as intended, and work my way up?

If there's no way to play the fun part of the game offline at all, them I'm probably going to refund the game. I don't have any controllers for my PC, and I think one of the reasons I enjoyed Dirt 1 so much was because I could control my brake/gas with the triggers. on the Steam Deck. So far, Dirt 1 is looking to be a far better game with a better UI, Music, Maps, Tutorials, and, unfortunately... Playability. Really regretting my purchase.

You can't do freeplay ( singeplayer) offline either ? I know the first tab is mp only, but the second tab should be ok for offline. Freeplay" which includes Custom Championships, RX Championships, Historic Championships, Time Trials can be played without a connection. according to them

Is the career mode not singleplayer? I feel that that is the interesting part, as I supposedly have to manage a team, buy cars, upgrade them, etc. I like that managerial aspect a lot more than choosing a vehicle "for free" and playing a few random races. I know this is going to sound kind of silly... I don't know a whole lot about cars. The main difference between a Lancia and a DS21 to me is that one of them is blue.

I've got about a week to find a mod for this, test it, and see if I can fix my campaign. If I can't do that, then I'll probably refund this, as Dirt 1 is much more enjoyable when I'm at work.

Career isn't really a fully fledge career mode in this game. Its more of a gimmick. only thing you manage is deciding in what you upgrade first, a artificial upgrade of your engine or a better repair faster repair timer or any of that sort nonsense upgrades. I cant really remember how dirt 1 had its career, but that they called it career in this game is a bit of a insult. If you retire from the career rally you just get a random new one. So it isn't really a hard coded progression either. I would rather do the historic championships in the freeplay tab they give more satisfaction and feel of progression then the "career" does. Also if you have the flat out dlc I can reccomend playing that aswel. Good progression and meaningfull content. Its almost like career was a after thought and didn't really put much thinking into it.

If you want a better carreer mode i think dirt 4 is better. I hope you can find what you seek, and I am sorry it didnt know that career was a issue for you. I asumed ypu knew how the game would work and was just asking if it would run on deck.:steamsad:

Honestly, it's not something I would expect! I mean, you haven't given me any wrong information at all here. I still thank you very much! I mean... It runs like a dream! Just... Weird unexpected things.

I guess just EA things. =/
I just played Dirt Rally 2.0 on my Steam Deck without any tricks whatsoever (Just hit Install & Play) & it worked fine. I did not check, whether leaderboards or campaigns or whatever are missing. I can drive a car in a racing game. 'Nuff for me.

I highly recommend Dirt 4, it has an excellent career mode, much better than Dirt Rally 2. Also you can play Dirt 4 offline
Dirt 4 isn't sold on Steam anymore, but you may be able to buy a CD key on a third party website.
