There is a concern with making Melee a quick melee attack, especially remembering certain multiplayer games like Modern Warfare 2 where people would run around smacking people then shooting. Especially with the disadvantage of the Kar98 over the M1 Grand, You miss your shot they just gonna rush you and hit you in the head with a shovel, this is what should be discouraged
Melee is not meant to be an optimal, it should only be as a last ditch resort with no guarantee that it will pay off. That or a silent take down cause you have already bested the opponent by sneaking up on them. It is 100% situational in the general combat.

The only time I think a Quick Melee Attack is acceptable, Is on Bayoneted Weapons. Example: Stick a S84/98 III (not the SG42 as they were not common) on a Kar98 and you have kind of balanced the gun so your not so helpless after firing that first shot and missing in a CQB environment, its exactly how it would of been used, miss shot, then stab with bayonet.
It shouldnt be miss shot, then swing with shovel or knife I magically and so speedily grabbed faster then it took someone to pull a trigger twice, all the while still holding onto my gun.

*Solution:*
If Quick Melee Attack is to be a thing, then have Bayoneted weapons be a kill and all Non Bayoneted weapons be a Rifle Butt that requires two whacks (1st whack would stun and disorientate, like suppression fire does, 2nd whack a kill). And any other Melee, like a Entrenching tool or Knife be an equippable but very stealthy. This could be used to easily balance out rifles and kits to a more level field while not removing the option of Melee

Also HUGE gripe of the Knife Kill. You DO NOT hold a knife or stab like that, especially in ww2. Its held between the Thumb and the Fore finger so that the palm of the hand can go around the handle. This isnt Battlefield or Cod, This is because the method you showed, Is counted by the target sticking their elbow up, closing the distance and disarming you. (Also when actually stabbing someone, you dont thrust in, ya pull them to you in to the blade)

you know adding melee isnt the only thing they've been working on, right?

I had too many times where I wanted to opt for melee. But i was just standing there behind the enemy, thinking if I should shot him or not... since I couldn't bash his skull, just look at it.
make it either instant kill, or 2 hit kill with a shock effect to deter the enemy from properly aiming the gun.
attacks from the rear should atleast kill instantly. parrying/blocking can be blend into a timed move that when used at the right moment, will protect you from a stab or slice, and allow you to strike slightly ahead of your opponent's next attack.

agree with this, even though Melee would be fun, i don´t think there will be much use for it unless you´r a sniper taking out another sniper from behind.

I want it for the times when I'm out of ammo and enemies are really close. It doesn't happen too often, but when it does it's really frustrating to not have a weapon.
When I was playing yesterday there was tons of times I needed melee, and since I'm more used to Post Scriptum I kept pressing the keybinds for melee in that game and wondering, "Why the hell isn't melee working?" Like we were defending a point, a US Soldier managed to push through, he came into the destroyed building we were in, he didn't see me but he was going up the stairs, went to shoot him just to realise I needed to reload, I ran up to him, tried to melee, couldn't melee, had to reload, because I had to reload my teammate got killed. Melee would've saved him there.

Go uninstall in then and go back to playing minecraft. Its one of the best ww2 multiplayers out there if you're going to be a brat you dont even deserve to play it
He's not wrong though, they promised one thing with the Kickstarter than completely changed the game. I don't care, I still like Hell Let Loose. If I want to play a realistic WW2 shooter with tons of communication, I go play Post Scriptum, which I'm usually playing. If I want a semi-realistic but more arcade WW2 shooter, I play Hell Let Loose. Something I think needs to be desperately added into the game though is if you create a Squad, you are forced to play as the Officer/Squad Leader, and you can't leave the squad for a certain amount of time. Everytime I play, and this is another reason I play Post Scriptum more, a dude will either make a squad and won't go Officer/Squad Leader, or he'll join a squad, than leave, expecting the other dude to go Officer/Squad Leader, then they'll join the squad later. Post Scriptum does this, and on most servers if someone leaves the squad to make someone else an Officer/Squad Leader, then joins back, they get kicked or banned, but that's of course up to the server owner.

Finally melee weapons. You dont know how many times i ran out of ammo as assualt and was just a sitting duck. So no its not a useless feature like most are saying here.

agree. another thing i would like to see in melee, see the difference between a helmet and a normal cap. Could be a nice addition.

I seriously question when this will actually be useful. I have never once wished I had the ability to melee my opponent. Let's say you sneak into a house with a machine gunner firing out a window. As soon as I can see him, I am shooting him dead. I am not going to waste time walking up to him (with loud footsteps on the wooden floor mind you) to deliver a melee blow. And when I come around a hedgerow and there's an enemy right there, my instincts will be to shoot him, not reach my finger over to the B key.

The only time I can see using it is if you have a Kar98 or Springfield and bump into an enemy around the corner, fire, and miss your shot. Maybe instead of bolting the rifle you would attempt a melee. But ultimately I would have preferred to see developer resources used toward something more impactful.
Does this mean you never ran out of ammo ?

IM is important! it's a bad experience when suddenly i can't communicate wit my comrade-in-arms.
The german melee attack looks way cooler :D. Anyways i like the speed. Its not to fast and not to slow. Those Call of Duty melee attacks are unrealistic fast.

I think the addition of an unlockable Hitlerjugend knife would be pretty cool. i always liked thier design.
I'm glad they're adding it but to be fair I think I miss it 3/4 times in 600h of playtime. (Out of ammo or needing to reload) Nonetheless a good addition.
