Are you inadvertantley or deliberately overclocking?

Hey RoseReaper77,

We're sorry to see you're having some issues with a crash while launching Hell Let Loose.

Let's try to check your game installation to make sure that no corrupted files are causing the problem. To do this:
  1. Right-click on the game in your Steam Library
  2. Choose Properties
  3. Switch to the Local Files tab and press Verify integrity of game files...
Then attempt to run the game to see if the issue is resolved.

If that hasn't worked to solve your Pak Chunk error, then please navigate to the following directory:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\HLL\Content
Please then delete the Paks folder.

Then attempt to verify your files again following the steps provided above.

Can you confirm if you are overclocking your PC at all as mentioned by @Ratz | Zak? If so, please try the game again with the default hardware settings - also try setting your graphic options to the lowest settings and the retest. If you are using any overclocking software such as Afterburner, Tweak or anything similar, please uninstall this software and retest the game.

If you find you are still having the same crash after trying all the above steps, can you send us your DxDiag information - you can do this by following the steps below:
  1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R
  2. The Run dialog should appear. Type dxdiag in the available text field.
  3. Click OK
  4. Click Save All Information
  5. Set the Save as type to Text File (*.txt)
  6. Save the file DxDiag.txt to your Desktop so it is easy to find.
  7. Open the .txt file, copy all the contents > Paste all the contents to a free text hosting service such as http://pastebin.com/
  8. Copy the link to your post and paste in your reply
Once we've received this information, we can take a closer look.

Get back to us when you can and let us know how you get on.

Hey RoseReaper77,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Can you please confirm if you were able to delete the Paks folder as advised above and if the error message remains the same following this?

It also looks like your graphics drivers need an update, could you please download and install the latest drivers for your NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 card?

To do this please go to the NVIDIA web page here[www.nvidia.com] and follow the instructions.

If the issue persists following these steps, please can you send us and updated DxDiag to reflect the driver update and we can then investigate further.

Get back to us when you can.

Hey RoseReaper77,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Are you still experiencing the same pak chunk error or a different error?

If the problem continues when the software is closed or not installed, can you please go to the game setting and change the video option from window to fullscreen.

If that doesn't work as well, then we would recommend running a memory test check.
You can find a few options in this guide[statics.teams.cdn.office.net] though it would be best if you could use MemTest86.

Hello, I am having the same crashes. I did everything you asked for in this thread (reinstall my drivers, delete the Pak folder, reinstalled the game, memory test, changed the windowed fullscreen to fullscreen, ...).

My specs are the same as RoseReapers (i9 14900k, Rtx 4090).

Can you provide me some help please? I've tried fixing this issue for the last two days and sadly the crashes won't go away. They are either a fatal memory crash or the game just randomly closes without any error message.

Hey xyaac,

Thanks for getting in touch with us - sorry to see you're having some issues with the same crash.

I can see from your DxDiag that you have both an onboard Intel graphics card as well as a dedicated NVIDIA card - can you please make sure that you are attempting to run the game through your NVIDIA and not your Intel card? To do this:
  1. Type Settings in Windows Search and press Enter
  2. Click on System
  3. Under the Display tab, scroll down to the end and click on Graphics Settings
  4. Select Desktop App and click on Browse
  5. Find the game's location, select the .exe file and click on Add
  6. Click on Options, select High performance and Save
Then please retest the game and see if the issue persists.

You are also receiving quite a few Windows errors - to reveal any possible issues with your Windows system, we would like to recommend that you please attempt the following actions:
  1. Open the Windows Start Menu
  2. Type “cmd”
  3. Right-click on Command Prompt > Run as administrator
  4. Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes
  5. Press Enter
  6. If the process has revealed/resolved any issues, please attempt to run the game again
Get back to us when you can and let us know how you get on with this and if the issue persists we can investigate further.

Hello, both changes did not fix the issue.

The cmd command did not find any issues with windows.
You mentioned that I am receiving quite a few Windows error - I just installed Windows a few days ago, should I try to reinstall it again?

I also just checked the Event viewer in windows. There are numerous errors with the error code "0xC0000022". What does this mean?

Hey xyaac,

Thanks for getting back to us.

The errors you are receiving are Windows-related and appear at the bottom of your DxDiag - an SFC scan in relation to this is to check if any system files are corrupt. If this has come back with no issues then it may not be causing issues with Hell Let Loose though you are welcome to try and reinstall Windows again if you are able to.

Does the error code 0xC0000022 appear when attempting to play Hell Let Loose at all or in relation to the game or does it appear when attempting to launch other apps?

I can also from your DxDiag that your Xbox overlay is crashing. Can you please try to disable this and retest the game to see if the issue persists:
  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Choose System from the sidebar
  3. Click System components
  4. Find the Game Bar
  5. Click the ellipsis button on the right and choose Advanced options
  6. Under Background apps permissions, click the dropdown menu and choose Never
  7. Scroll down to Terminate and click the button to stop the app
  8. Choose Gaming from the Settings sidebar
  9. Click Game Bar
  10. Turn off the toggle labelled Open Xbox Game Bar using this button on a controller - this will stop the Xbox Game Bar from running in the background and it will also prevent you from accidentally opening the app using a controller. However, you'll still be able to launch the Xbox Game Bar using the Windows + G keyboard shortcut.
Get back to us when you can.

I disabled the Game Bar but the issue remains.

I also reinstalled Windows but the problem remains.

According to Google the "0xC0000022" has something to do with EasyAntiCheat. The error comes up every minute in the event viewer.

Could this error be hardware related?

Hey xyaac,

Thanks for getting back to us.

It seems that the code 0xC0000022 could be related to an access issue if it appears in relation to EAC.

Let's try a few more things!

Can you please make sure that the following exceptions are added to any anti-virus/firewall or Windows Defender software you may be using:
  • HLL.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose
  • HLL_BugReportUploader.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose
  • HLL-Win64-Shipping.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\HLL\Binaries\Win64
  • EasyAntiCheat.exe - Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat
  • EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe - Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\EasyAntiCheat
  • Launch_HLL.exe - Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose
To do this, please press the Windows key + I to open your Windows Settings. Then:
  1. Go to 'Privacy & Security' and select 'Windows Security'
  2. In Windows Security, click on 'Virus & Threat Protection'
  3. Under 'Virus & Threat Protection Settings' click on 'Manage Settings' under 'Virus & Threat Protection'
  4. Scroll down to the 'Exclusions' section and click on 'Add or remove exclusions'
  5. Click on 'Add an exclusion' and choose the type of exclusion you want to add (File, Folder, File Type, or Process)
  6. Choose 'File' and then 'Browse' and select the file you want to exclude
  7. Add the above files suggested and then confirm your selection - these will now be added to your Exceptions
Please could you also follow the steps below to repair your Anti-Cheat:
  1. Right-click on Hell Let Loose in your Steam Library
  2. Select Properties
  3. Then go to Installed Files and click on Browse...
  4. In here, enter the folder EasyAntiCheat and double-click on EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe
  5. Select Hell Let Loose and press Repair Service
  6. Restart your PC and retest the game
Get back to us when you can and let us know if there is any change following these steps.
