Hell Let Loose

Game will not launch after latest update.
Pretty much what the title says, game launches to the EAC loader, the EAC loader closes game seems as if it is about to launch then - nothing. I have tried several supposed fixes, though the threads I have seen the supposed fixes on haven't even solved the issue. Can we get a bit more help from the support team? I have the latest drives etc... have tried fresh installs, restarts, removing certain files, re-validating, fiddling with compatability modes and nothing has worked. Really pi**ed as I have been trying to fix this for 2 days on the trot. If anybody has any fix for this same issue please share it, and if support can please publish an official fix!

Hi Darkentsade -

this is a thread to try to assist some players with a technical issue that they are having. I cannot find any post that you have made where we have tried and failed to assist you, so if you are having a technical issue with the game, please do make a post so that we can try to assist further, otherwise, we would appreciate if you would refrain from derailing the thread as it's not helpful nor constructive.

@LOKI95: if there was a problem with the game client, no one would be able to play, hence why we are assuming that it is still something in your system causing the issue. Let's check if your Windows installation has any lingering issues. To do this:

Click Start, type Command Prompt or cmd in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

Type the following command, and then press Enter. It may take several minutes for the command operation to be complete:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

sfc /scannow

Command Prompt with administrator rights - sfc /scannow

The sfc /scannow command will scan all protected system files, and replace corrupted files with a cached copy that is located in a compressed folder at %WinDir%\System32\dllcache.
The %WinDir% placeholder represents the Windows operating system folder. For example, C:\Windows.

Note: Do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.

@Team

Hello again, thank you for the response. I did this and tried again, with no result. It did find corrupted files, but it didn't affect the end result. I updated my drivers again and re-downloaded the game, verified the cache, still no start up besides the anti cheat loading screen starting up then nothing.

@Darkenstade

You are derailing the thread, just complaining won't solve anything; I am certain they are trying their absolute best and that the team does care. They've been excellent since kickstarter and this is the first time something has gone wrong on my end since then. I'm more than willing to cut them some slack if it means I can play the game sooner. Try giving them the exact steps you are using and give them a chance to respond. Thank you.
I changed my computer I still do not have to buy the game again I have a problem maybe it is this version you may have to buy the game says me what you think
Hi LOKI95,

Thank you for your immense patience - there's a couple of things that we can try to make the game launch, nothing overly complicated:
  1. Unplug every unnecessary device from your PC, including Bluetooth dongles etc.
  2. Right-Click Hell Let Loose in your library and Uninstall the game
  3. Press the Windows key and type %LOCALAPPDATA%
  4. In here, delete the folder "HLL"
  5. Download and install the game
  6. Right-Click Hell Let Loose in your library and click on Properties
  7. Under the local files tab, click on browse local files
  8. Right-click the file: Launch_HLL.exe and select Run as Administrator

If the game is still not launching:
  1. Right-Click Hell Let Loose in your library and click on Properties
  2. Under the General Tab click on Set Launch Options
  3. Type: "-windowed" without the ""
  4. Press OK and retest

Hello again, I tried these latest suggestions and still the same result. I reinstalled the game as instructed. When I try to run the .exe file as administrator, nothing happens. Easy anti-cheat does not even show up then. I used the Set Launch options and set it to -windowed with no result as well. What else can I do?

Thanks
@Darkentsade - we can see the license present on your Steam account, so we do not believe that that is the issue. Can you confirm if you are having the exact same issue as LOKI95?

To recap:

You try to start the game, Hell Let Loose/EAC launcher loads and nothing else happens.

If you are receiving an error message, please let us know. Additionally, please do send us your latest system information:
  1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R, the Run dialogue should appear > Type dxdiag in the available text field > Click OK
  2. Click Save All Information > Save the file DxDiag.txt to your Desktop so it is easy to find
  3. Open the .txt file, copy all the contents > Paste all the contents to a free text hosting service such as http://justpaste.it, http://textuploader.com or http://freetexthost.com
  4. Copy the link to your post
@LOKI95

Sorry that this didn't work - rest assured that it is also frustrating for us but we are keen on being able to solve it. Let's try the following:
  1. Right-Click your Hell Let Loose game on Steam Library and select properties
  2. Under the Local Files tab, click on "Browse Local Files"
  3. Enter the EasyAntiCheat folder and run EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe
  4. Click on Uninstall
  5. Go to your :\Program Files (x86) folder and confirm that there is no EasyAntiCheat folder present. If there is, delete it and all its files
  6. Right-click on the game in your Steam Library, choose Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and press Verify integrity of game files... - perform this step twice
  7. Retest the game

Hello, still no effect. Could it be blocked by Norton? My computer was recently serviced by them. I don't know how to test that. Could it be anything else besides that as well? Thank you!
Hi LOKI95,

An Anti-Virus/Firewall could very well be the cause, so let's see if Norton is allowing the game to run.
  1. Start Norton
[*[If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open
  2. In the Norton window, click Settings
  3. In the Settings window, click Firewall
  4. In the Firewall Settings window, on the Program Control tab, select your game from the list and then set the access to Allow
[*If you do not see the game in the list, click Add
  5. In the Select a program dialog box, browse to the executable file of the game that you want to add
  6. Click Open
  7. In the Security Alert window, analyze the reputation information of the program
  8. Norton fetches and displays the reputation information and the recommended access setting
  9. From the Options drop-down menu, select Allow Always, and then click OK

Additionally, add the game to Quite Mode:
  1. Start Norton.
  2. If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open
  3. In the Norton window, click Settings
  4. In the Settings window, click Administrative Settings
  5. Under Silent Mode Settings, in the User-Specified Programs row, click Configure
  6. In the Quiet Mode Programs window, click Add
  7. In the Add Program dialog box, navigate to the location of the game file that you want to add to the Quiet Mode Programs list. Select the file, and then click Open
  8. Click OK
The file that needs to be added:

:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\HLL.exe

Thanks!
do you have any other idea how easy anticheate blocks
can we change the way to launch the game
(O: \ SteamLibrary \ steamapps \ common \ Hell Let's Loose \ EasyAntiCheat \ Launcher Settings.json) touch to file or another to start the game because nothing works in the manipulation to perform is always the same thing to do can we make a test modify any file I wait your answer I like your game but it's too long help us please
Hi both,

Thank you very much for your patience so far - @Darkentsade, it could very well be EAC, but we are not yet in a position where we can pinpoint this as being the issue. Would it be possible to provide us with the following information please (both):

First, try to run the game. Once if fails, navigate to:

:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\HLL\Saved\Crashes

Inside this folder, you should have other created folders - can you please tell us the dates and time of these folders? If you see several, the last 3 or 4 will suffice.

Regards,
