your device ran into a problem and needs to restart
this is the second time my pc restarted while playing hll. in 562 hours i didn't ecounter this problem, when the U8 launched, i got two restarts.

the first one happened right when i launched the game from steam (couple of days ago), i was with a friend on discord too. the second time happened this morning when i was in a public match.

(i don't use dx12)

now, i wanted to see if the problem was from my system and i tested with some demanding games (RDR2, Metro Exodus, GTAV) and it didn't happened.

one thing is a crash from unreal engine, and the other thing is messing up with my computer -_-

Hi ᴢᴏᴍʙᴇʟᴇᴋ 海獣,

Sorry to hear you're having this issue.

Is the game loading at all?
Does your PC close down?
What crash errors/messages do you see when the game crashes?

Could you please send us your DxDiag information via the steps below:
  1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R, the Run dialogue should appear > Type dxdiag in the available text field > Click OK
  2. Click Save All Information > Save the file DxDiag.txt to your Desktop so it is easy to find
  3. Open the .txt file, copy all the contents > Paste all the contents to a free text hosting service such as http://justpaste.it, http://textuploader.com or http://freetexthost.com
  4. Copy the link to your post
Get back to us when you can.

Regards,
Team17 Support.

I'm experiencing a similar issue. Brand new computer AMD RYZEN 5 5600X, GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB DDR 4, 750W PSU, and also getting hard restarts. I Ran MS Flight Sim at 4k on it and had no hard reboot.

Hi Alek,

Sorry to hear you're having this issue.

This issue normally means that there is a hardware issue if your PC is rebooting itself when launching the game.

We would recommend running a memory test check.
You can find a few options in this guide[www.howtogeek.com], though it would be best if you could use MemTest86.

Do you receive a crash/error message at all? If so could you please let us know what this is?

Get back to us when you can.

Regards,
Team17 Support.

So the resolution to my issue was to update my BIOS version, which then resolved the reboots. Since it's the new Ryzen CPU, I think the older BIOS just wasn't supporting it properly.
