Ping 100ms Virgin Media
Recently started playing HLL and when joining a seeding server i have a ping of around 44ms. As the server fills that ping then shoots up to around 100ms. I would be ok'ish with that if this was also the scenario for fellow players in the game alongside me, but that is not the case.

I have 350mb Connection and average 10ms on speed test's, so i am somewhat confused as to what the problem may be. It is not a hardware problem at my end, far from it, i have a new top spec PC build (i9/2080ti) and i don't experience this problem with other games.

I have adjusted the required ports, which results in no noticeable difference. I re-installed Easy Anti cheat in case it was that, fast running out of ideas now. i have closed windows processes etc too.

Would anyone else have a suggestion as to how i can resolve this issue, Anyone from VM experiencing the same problem?

Uninstalling the game is not a valid fix

I got the best of this, i got the best of that, i need the best of this.

Stop complaining, anything under 150 ping and your fine.

are u that spoiled u need the highest number, highest rank to feel superior?, play the game for fun and not to make yourself feel good about yourself.

Dude, you can safely put the crack pipe down now you have replied with a dull diatribe. I asked a simple question about reducing latency to be in line with expectations. Spoiled? i am 40 years of age you pleb.

I've got this problem too, to the extent that the game is unplayable. It only started after the addition of the Carentan map.

Interesting, thank you for taking the time to reply.

same connection as you, ive noticed this too, stated server ping in menu does not represent in game ping by a substantial amount, usually another 30-60ms ping on top

Yes it is kinda weird. In the menu, the server browser, it says I would have around 25-50 ping on European servers, but once I join I have 100+. Would be nice to know if there are any fixes for this.

Good to know its not a local problem for me then, i guess i can swerve the phone call to VM, thanks for the informative reply.

I am sure the dev team will have a network fix in the todo or backlog list. Fingers crossed. Ty for the reply.

Same here and Carentan also crashes. You are not alone, pal.

It is frustrating when you know that your connection is sound, i just find it really bizarre that i can get a 44ms average on a near empty server and once there are 50+ players then i can expect to see 100ms+. I was speaking to someone today, who is from my area with the same ISP and they have exactly the same issue. Thanks for the reply.

Same - speed test shows 20 ms, browser shows about 30 to 50 - in game 90-120
Living in Leicester.

Your in game "ping" is more akin to Round Trip Time (RTT) and includes the frame time (how long it takes to simulate one time step of the environment) of the server and probably some client processing time too. Thus if the tick rate of the server (like mid to late game when it drops into the single digits ~100ms/10FPS) or your FPS is low, this value will increase substantially.

Probably a dev left this on for debugging server health and never turned it off.

If you want to find out your network latency in game ask someone else in your squad to tell you what he sees in the list as that seems to match more closely with network ping (the time to send a message to the server and back without processing).

Thanks for the reply, i take it your with VM too?
I am too:

While it's not great, as I said what the in game ping is showing is not actually your ping.

Thanks for the informative reply to the thread. I understand the technicalities discussed in the post, (20+ years experience in IT/Programming) however, with that said i have discussed this at length with friends who are playing the game with me at the same time and they live in the same area, they have different ISP's and have much lower MS response times that remain largely consistent during the game.

I do not think its an issue with the game (I could be wrong of course), at the time of writing i believe it to be a possible problem with my ISP and some form of traffic management.
